Yep. I thought it was awesome. Very tender and tasty.

We just boil them and lightly salt afterwards. Easy as can be

That’s too bad! You missed some good stuff.

Awesomely buck! Congrats. They sure do grow some big ones up there. We’re you on private land or public? I don’t know anyone that has private land in Mo. but I hear there’s some good public land bucks in the mark twain National forest if you can put the work in to find them. A Missouri Hunt is pretty high on my wish list.

Nothing like the first! Congrats to you. -
good advice here. I've always been pretty clumsy with field dressing, as I frankly just don't do it that often. This year I did the gutless method on my deer and it was ridiculously easy. Had that deer skinned cut up & in my backpack in less than 45 minutes and that's long compared to guys that are experienced at it. I've seen videos where guys get it done in under 15 minutes. That having been said, guys that are good at field dressing can get one done in close to the same time. My buddy I hunt with back in Nebraska does so many per year & is so good at it, he can get one from the field to freezer in about an hour. There's some good videos on that way too and it can net you some more meat plus the heart & liver if you like them. Also, don't over look the tongue. I just had deer tongue for the first time last week. Man, that's probably the best piece of meat on the deer! Can't believe I've been throwing them away all these years... I'll be taking that piece from now on too.

I don’t have a lot of buddies that hunt but the couple I do go with I consider to be very high quality people and enjoy their company very much, so I don’t personally need more than that. I also am greatly appreciate my ‘me time’ and have no issue spending a week or more on my own with nothing more than a book and a campfire for company. I think some of my most enjoyable hunts have been solo backpacking trips. Love the feeling of being all alone out there

That's for sure. This one was the worst because I came down with the flu that morning and spent the last 2 days in bed recovering from the hike. Almost put me in the hospital. Had almost the same thing happen to me last week, except I don't think it was the flu.... probably had more to do with the bottle of scotch my buddy & I killed the night before. Anyway..... Congrats on your deer man! Nice shooting.

Buck down. Story. Plus something weird

I googled it after seeing your pictures and according to the all knowing internet, black liver can be a sign of fatty liver which can be caused by anorexia and/or starvation. You said his teeth were down to the gums, could be he was not eating and dying of starvation. Either way, seems like the little guy was in bad shape which in my book makes it a very good kill. Much better your bullet than starvation. Congrats again. Little, but still a dang nice looking coues buck. -
Good spotters an Upincomer and Team work

Congrats on your buck! I've seen some rabbits with livers that looked like that, but never a deer. I was taught a black liver = parasites/sick bunny & leave it for the coyotes. Don't know if that's true or not, could've just been hand-me-down hill billy logic. -
Congrats to you! Awesome bull!

The funniest thing in that article is the term "Institutions of higher learning". What a joke! Public schools and colleges have turned into little more that indoctrination camps where you send you kids to be brainwashed into the good little sheeple/worker bees they need to be to blend in with the slave society we are today. And these people can't understand why homeschooling is growing at an exponential rate all across this country.

Let me guess, there is a dancer named Bambi. I know that girl. She has a deer face and a bear butt.
