Haven’t done it on elk yet bu the last couple deer we did was kinda combo gutless/ gutting method. Hung em from the hind quarters, peeled the skin off cut off the front quarters, back meat and as much as we could from the ribs, then gutted and took inside meat, and last thing was to cut off spine and whatever bones were left hanging away from the hind quarters. Gutting is much easier that way and you don’t have to worry about getting hair all over the meat or rupturing the gut sack as all the meat down hill from it is already gone. For someone like me that isn’t that great at it, it’s a good way to go

And so it begins..... Brace yourselves, I think this will be a rough summer. Wife & I bought a place up in Prescott last fall and have been working on cleaning it up. So far we've filled up over 60 of the 35 gallon black trashbags full of dry needles & leaves, and we've only got 1.25 acres. And we're only about half way done. Imagine thousands of acres with that much litter on it just waiting for a cigarette butt or a camp fire or fireworks.....

I’ve been boycotting them based on absolutely ridiculous pricing anyway. It’ll be easy to keep going with it

Good it needed to be done.

Dang shame. Rip sir.

Show a lazy man a tough job & he'll show you the easiest way to do it.

Uhhhhmmmm..... yeah..... I don't think so. The US pulling out of Syria is the absolute best thing that could have happened to this a-hole. No way he celebrates with a gas attack that is 100% certain to flip our troops around and bring them right back. This has horsepoop black-ops political maneuvering written all over.

Ultimately the only important thing is really how the arrow comes off the string. At a glance it would look wrong to me but if it’s shooting well and accurate than I don’t think it’s technically wrong. I’m kinda doubting that thing is going to punch a good hole through paper though. If the peep wasn’t even positioned correctly it sure doesn’t seem like they spent much time verifying their work.

That will never happen... the guy who started Sawmill fire (60k acres)... Forest Service never cited or fined him. Aholes that started the wallow fire got two days in jail and some community service. Estimated cost to the tax payers of $109m. Dozens of buildings destroyed, half a dozen towns evacuated, 16 people injured. Two days served and community service..... what a frickin joke.

There should be mandatory minimum of two years sentence for anyone convicted of starting a forest fire. In addition to the damage of public and private property, not to mention potential risk to human lives, they also usually cost several millions to fight contain and then clean up after. If armed robbers and drunk drivers have to do time, so should these morons.

Generally speaking I’m not a big fan of new/more laws, but something has to be done to increase opportunity. If we can’t recruit new hunters the sport will never survive and how are you supposed to recruit new hunters in a state that takes 10 bonus points to shoot anything with antlers? I’ve read enough griping on this site and others about ‘point creep’ and draw odds to feel like it’s pretty generally accepted it’s getting harder and harder to get any tag much less good ones. Only way that’s going to change is if they start making moves to reduce success rates so they can allow more tags to go out. No matter what they do they’re going to piss some people off and get flamed over it.

Champ permits and crossbow permits used to be more difficult to get and also I don't remember them being for temporarily disabled people as now you can get x-bow permit temporarily.. Pretty sure crossbow permit used to be only for permanently disabled people and i think it used to he 90% or greater loss of use of 1 arm. I have both the champ permit and a crossbow permit I don't think the airbow should be legal during archery season. Save it for the ham hunt and rifle hunt. I mean I'm sitting here knowing that it would be legal for me to use it during an archery hunt and I'm trying to figure out where disabled or not why would it be fair for me to hunt during an archery hunt and shoot an animal to to 300 yards away while somebody else has to stick to you know under 60 yards for the most part. I am at a disadvantage when it comes to the hiking part but allowing me to use scoped crossbow shooting 400 feet per second is probably good enough. If you are me with an airbow it's allowing me to rifle hunt during archery I just I just don't know that seems a little strange. All crossbows can have cocking devices put on them where you just cranked them to cock the bow. If somebody can't use a cocking device they probably can't hold airbow either without help. I'm one of the bonuses of a crossbow is been able to cock the crossbow and basically sit in your stand all day long with a cocked you're not drawing a bow on your shoulder or neck or back or whatever the problem is heck somebody else could cock the bow for you or you could use a cocking device. I'm not sure how this ever made it up for vote Now which ones are capable of making a 300 yd shot?Well if they're only accurate to 100 yards I would change my opinion 100% I would say make them legal for disabled Hunters. But then I would ask what happens when they make them better and they are good to two and three hundred yards. Most of the propaganda being pushed around about anti airbow is saying that they have a 200 to 300 yard range. If 100 yards sign me up! I highly doubt you're gonna get a 26 inch 375 grain arrow flying 450fps to be either accurate or deadly anywhere in the ballpark of 300 yds. There's no place for math, physics, or simple logic in an internet debate. You stop it. Stop it right now!

I love my trail cams but some of these water holes are ridiculous with them. Saw one on the bab a few years ago that had five different cams on it.

I love big mulies, but I'd have to opt for the sheep just because it's so rare.

No kidding. I haven't stacked 'em up like old Oneshot has, but I've killed a few deer... Not even one of them had little tiny lungs the size of a quarter.

Political propaganda at it's finest. "Divide & rule!" If any of you feel that school shootings justify ANY changes to existing or addition of new gun laws than you are fools to the highest degree. This "Protect our children!" rant is every bit the equivalent false narrative of the BLM movement. It's misconstrued over exaggerated BS. The following events are all significantly more likely to kill your kids than a school shooting: - Car accident (more than 100x more likely) - Run over by a train - Struck by lightning - Killed in a flood - DRUG ABUSE!!! If it's really all about the children, than we have a whole crap load of new laws that we need.

What a great way to start 2018. Congrats!

Great year indeed. Congrats to you and the mrs.

Very nice! Congrats to both of you.

Not all of them. I’ve had good luck chatting with hikers and backpackers. Recently had a little old lady with a fanny pack, walking stick and a pistol on her hip point me and my buddy to a couple great looking deer spots up around Prescott.

The problem is not about lefties or radical anti's. It's about hikers, mountain bikers, car-campers, joggers, and many other people that don't even use the forest, but are voters. I don't remember the exact numbers, but only something like 5-10% of people hunt and only around 5%-10% are firmly against hunting. The 80% in the middle can swing either way. A lot of people mistakenly believe we have some God given right to hunt. Not so, at least not in Az (some states do have the right to hunt as part of their state constitutions, but when it was tried here the voters shot it down). We have the privilege to hunt as long as the state allows it. This privilege can be revoked in a single election cycle theoretically. It won't happen like that, but they're already chipping away a piece at a time. Bear baiting in dozens of states, lion hunting in Cali., the new cat prop that's coming up here in Az, etc. Most of these people believe that meat grows on trees some where and killing cute animals is a barbaric past time that is not necessary for them to enjoy a hamburger. Stupid and counter intuitive as it sounds, there's a ton of people that eat meat who will readily vote against hunting. PETA & the Humane society will get them to vote in favor of not killing "non food" animals like cats, bears, raccoons, foxes, etc. We all know that people eat lions & bears, but they're not generally seen as food by non-hunters, and most non hunters don't like killing for sport. Heck, I'm a hunter and I won't kill anything that I won't eat. We're all big boys and all entitled to our own opinions, but we should at least think about the consequences of our actions in a social media world where an "offensive" picture can go viral in a matter of hours and stir up a frenzy of negative publicity.
