Not to drone on too long over technicalities, but the way I heard it was, "You aligator mouth is getting your hummingbird a$$ in trouble". I heard that on a daily basis from a craggy old machinist I worked with on my first manufacturing job. Gruff exterior, but a heart of gold & I learned a lot from him. At anyrate, we're way off track hear. There's a million good bows on the market, I'm impressed w/ the diamond & would like to own one. I'd also encourage anyone to shoot one of these while doing your shopping, I think you'll find it's a lot of bow for a bit less $$$ than some others. As for the gay jokes & other banter, it was all in fun from my point of view. That's what a discussion forum's all about, swapping info, kicking around the b.s., & hurtling a good natured shot here & there. Personally, I think that if you can actually get angry over anything you read on here, you're probably taking yourself too seriously. You're definetely taking us too seriously. Go fling some arrows & have fun. Archery's a great sport for everyone to enjoy, even those who fly under the rainbow flag.

Crazy is right. A little angry, but right. You put just about any company's flagship bow in a top shooter's hands nowadays and it will win. Crazy$COUES, send Longshooter a PM. If you're into "that kinda thing", he'll come over and "massage" all your anger away... so I've heard. ... and while he's there, I want you to remember that getting a massage from another dude isn't any gayer than shooting spots at 18 yards. Holding hands in public, opening doors for each other, and shooting Oneidas ... well, that's another story....

This is true. If you're a good girl you might get one for christmas. If you're a bad girl you might get one a lot sooner than that! My paycheck is my ex's best friend.

You're absolutely correct because it's patented. As is the Martin Shoot thru. The Limb Pivot idea was actually on an earlier bow, but the technology wasn't there to make it work (1987). After that patent expired (20 years), Bowtech picked up the design and ran with it. The Martin Shoot thru is nice because it eliminates cam lean since there is no cable guard. This improves nock travel and the overall accuracy of the bow. Which is why you find it mostly on target models. But no other bow maker can touch it. People poo poo'd the binary cam design for a while too (darton patent i think) but it's becoming increasingly popular with other manufacturer's. With the attention the Guardian/Commander are getting this year, I'm betting they will be around for a long while. Shoot one Matty, they really are good bows. Kevin, rumor has it those Gaurdians are the official bow of the "2007 Las Vegas Gay Pride Archery Shoot" You would know... aren't you the guest speaker for the event? Not that there's anything wrong with that I saw an SUV w/ a CW.COM sticker outlined with a rainbow the other day. Which one of you was it? Tell the truth.

Is that a testament to quality or to who is willing to hand out the most sponsorships in order to get their name to the top. Archery is just as comercialized as nascar and so you see the same results - those w/ the deepest pockets are usually standing at the top. Mathews & Hoyt both make great equipment, but I still can't wait to get my Diamond.

A friend & I were discussing deer baiting last night & of course the topic of bear baiting came up. I can understand that w/ our low number of bears in Az. that if they allowed baiting there would probably be too many killed & the population would decline. My question is, do you think its better to have otc bear tags w/ no baiting or to have to draw a tag & be allowed to bait? What about issuing few spring bear permits & allowing baiting during that one season?

Mesa's closer to me, so if they're on the same night then I'm going to hit that one. -

I am planning on attending and would like to suggest that if a group of us are going we should meet ahead of time and sit/speak together as group. What time is the meeting Amanada? I'll look for you there. -
Dave: Don't know how far you're willing to drive, but Superior is about 50 minutes east of Tempe & full of rabbits. We mostly shoot cottontails, but there are some big jacks out there too. Ingrid got her first w/ a bow last night about 15 minutes before dark. That's my favorite summer activity right there - introducing new people to the sport. She's never had a gun in her hand & picked up a bow for the first time last summer. I also introduced her to backpacking last summer.

I've got one hanging in 27 on a trail that looks hammered, heading out of a feeding area (for elk that is). This is my first attempt at trail-camming. Won't get back to pick it up 'til this weekend, so it should have about 3 weeks worth of pics on it by then. Hopefully I'll catch something other than blowing grass on my first attempt. -

While showing off his video footage Sat. moring, Short-Pants stepped up & asked the question everyone was thinking: 'Where'd you take it at?", to which Dave responded, "Over by the pine trees." You gotta love a concise answer! -
I'm not disputing their quality. I've never heard a bad thing about Bowtech. I just feel there's a difference between innovation & gimmicks. I wouldn't mind shooting one & am not trying to bad mouth them. The patents don't mean much to the other manufacturers, they'll pay to use their design if it'll sell bows. PSE's shoot-through riser is used by everyone, I'm seeing Hoyts STring stopper thingy on more & more models & I believe Matthews has a patent on the carbide disk in the cam, but you still see it on other bows. It's really turning into a cut-throat market for compound bow manufacturers. They have to keep coming out with "improvements" just to keep up!

I'm w/ DTB on this one. Many an unfortunate bunny has fell to my bow since the Jan. hunt ended. Also been doing a lot of camping & am giving the whole trail cam thing a try. There's still plenty to do.
-
I'd put money against that. Case in point, look at Martins shoot through cables. Good idea & they shoot really well from what I understand, but not enough benefit to make a difference. Bowtech may stick with it for a while, but I doublt you'll see other manufacturers following suit on this one.

Reminded me of the fire-truck at the circus w/ all the clowns pouring out of it. How the heck do they fit some many in one vehicle? Hope nobody ate beans before the trip.

LMAO..... Where on Earth are you guys getting these mooning, bowing, smiley face things from?! I need one holding a gun & flipping the bird to send to my ex...... -
Let me know if you want the Black Ice. I checked w/ one of my wholesalers yesterday & they've got a bunch in stock. I'll make you a good deal on it. I'll be buying one of those for myself. I can also get the Truth if someone wants one of those. For all you PSE fanatics, I'm selling my 07 Diablo. $300 cash for the bare bow. This bow retails for $599 new & is perfect shape. It's about 2 months old, 70 lb. limbs, & has the NRG Hybrid cams. I'll also throw in 3 Carbon Force 300 arrows & 3 Easton ACC's so you have something to fiddle around with. The ACCs are about 30 greains heavier so you get to try a couple different set-ups. These arrows are too heavy for the 60 pounder I'm ordering so they do me no good to keep 'em.

I was planning on staying until Sunday. -
I've heard that it's a great shooting bow, but that whole center pivot, limb support contraption is a real turn off for me. It classifies w/ Oneida's in my opinion - an overly complicated way of achieving little or no benefit. Other bows shoot just as well w/ conventional designs. I think that's another "innovation" that benefits the marketing staff a lot more than the people shooting it. Again, just my .02.

Sorry guys, I know you love your Bear's but they're tanks! The Liberty weighs in at 3.7 lbs bare & the Black Diamond at 3.6. That's probably what I found most impressive about them is that they're both so light and fast, yet you still feel no hand shock & they're really quiet. They're also really smooth. I liked the draw cycle much better than either the Vectrix or Drenalin, and the hit pretty much the same chrono numbers. Good stuff!

Whack a Jack and Pack it Back
mattys281 replied to deernut's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I've yet to hammer a jack w/ my bow, but have brought a bunch of their smaller cousins home. We eat 'em too, but unfortunately most of the ones by my place are so scrawny that they make little more than a side dish to go with chicken or something else. While driving through town the other day there was about 4 or 5 big ole fat ones right out on the front lawn of the mormon church. Can you imagine those folks getting out of the evening service to find us "stalking" rabbits on their grass! -

Hey DB, what kind of trail cams are you using? I like all the info they stamp on the pics.
