I must have called at least a thousand times & can't get through... This if rediculous! I don't know why they can't step up to the 21st century & get a friggin website that works!

There was a great turn-out at the last one. Nick & the guys from the club did an awesome job setting up the course. I'm sure this one will be even better, particularly with the brush cover & terrain up there on the oak flats. There's more to work with in regard to setting up the targets. It'll be a great time, I'm looking forward to it. Matt S.

Yeah, I see some bear huntin this fall in my future, but that otc deer tag does me no good til next year.... Actually, I put in for the NM deer draw today to go hunt w/ a buddy over there, so hopefully that'll pan out if the elk tag doesn't find me again this year. p.s. of course she's not from kiev..... she's from Cherkassy.

I think we're all pretty sad like that.... we wait on the draw results with more angst than a child waiting on X-mas..... As they say, "Behind every great hunter stands a woman rolling her eyes!"

The archery hunt I put in for in NM has both Sept & Jan dates, so I can make it regardless of whether I draw an elk tag here or not.

I'm doing at least twice a day, but I'm at work, so what the heck else am I gonna do with my time?!

As a side note to this, his wife found out she was pregnant a few weeks after he deployed. He's scheduled to get home to her in Germany just about a month or two after his first child is to be born. Regardless of your position on the war, the sacrifices our soldiers make for us is huge & they all deserve our thanks. Appreciate the kind words. Matt S.

Got another e-mail from my little bro who's serving over in the sand-box. Here's a first hand account: Well we are leaving lovely Ur tomorrow. We will spend about three days at Taji and then our whole task force will be relocating to the peace and quiet of FOB Falcon. It is a built up post with all possible ammenities and they average .4 Significant Actions a month. All are targeted towards Iraqi security forces, more an Al Quaida threat as oppose to JAM that we are dealing with here. So the last 6 weeks of the deployment will probably pretty laid back. As for things here we have been getting attacked more and more everyday. We had one of our trucks get hit with an EFP about 2 weeks ago, blew the whole turret off the MRAP and the gunner was killed, pinned underneath it about 20 meter from the truck. Everyone else inside was fine though, no other injuries, it was perfectly aimed to take out the gunner. Then a few days afterwards one of the infantry foot patrols had a grenade thrown at them, a Bradley had an RPG launced at it barely missing, and just a few days ago 9 mortors were launched at us with one hitting the generators(shrapnel popped the blimp 300 feet in the air!), another hit our snack trailer, and the other 7 landed outside of the walls. Those were all in the last month. Going back further we had an EFP hit our supply convoy, 2 RPG attacks on our towers with one hitting, a few grenade and sniper hits, and several mortor attacks(all landing outside the walls though). All of this has happened since we came here at the end of December. The only incident that anyone got hurt though was that strike on our trucks. 1CAV is here now and they can have this place! Because of the SOFA agreement all we do is walk around and wait to see if someone will shoot at us. Basically all we can do is react to them. JAM has been handing out propaganda to the locals telling them they are back (spent the last year since the battle for Sadr city training in Iran), and that they will kill anyone who helps us. Just perfect timing for us to leave! I am scheduled to be back in Germany by end of May with the whole brigade back no late then the 5th of June. We will all get our 30 days of block leave at that time.

I'm going on the weekend. Can't get away from work during the week, as I just returned from a 2 week vacation. 4/4 & 4/5. I've got a buddy in Ca that is supposed to tag along to watch & possible film, but I'm the only shooter on this trip, archery.

myself and bowhunter4life went to Riverside for my bachelor party. had some good boars. i emptied my quiver, i shot straight into boars side armor. half day spent shooting, tracking, and evading really mean wounded boar. Chuck the owner brought dog in that saved my but. boar charged Chuck even on quad. i started feeling like 45 on side for back up wasnt adequate. boar wanted to rip me up. morral of storie is i am ready to go again. ferrels not really wild there. one of our friends smacked pig on but while it was mating while i videoed. exotics also not very challenging, but good experience. i might go next week during week so its private. I don't expect it to be challenging like hunting coues or desert mulies. I'm looking at it as a practice session for the fall hunts & of course it'll be fun to bring some bacon home. Matt S.

I'm going to hunt this ranch April 4-5 in California at Big Canyon Ranch. I've never been there, but know some guys out in Superior that hunted it a year or two ago & said it was a good time. One guy shot a 300+ lb. boar there. The price is $350 for a ferral hog, $450 for a Russian. From what I understand, it is located east of LA in the Riverside area, so smells like about a five hour drive from Phoenix. A bit closer than Texas is. You can also check out theTejon Ranch in Ca. It's about the same price range, but is much, much larger (100,000+ acres). Matt S.

Don't know if this is the right spot for this, but as the lay-off thread(s) were here I though it might be a decent spot. We have yet to official open the positions, but are supposed to be running an ad by the end of the month for a CNC Programmer / Machininst & a QC Inspector to do first-articles & in-process inspection.
