That's the Alaskan model & yep, took 'em in one load. He just barely fit in the expansion pocket, it was kinda like trying to force feed a snake. That's probably the most comfortable pack I've ever had.

My best & only coues to date, Jan '09. 78 yard shot & 3 hour pack out.... that's one that'll not be soon forgotten.
-
I would have to 2nd this. Once saw the aftermath of some butt-jack driving too fast down the road to the Barnhardt trailhead. He took out 3 pigs. They're definetely in there.

That mental picture cracked me up! Otherwise try the "Judo Chop!" Also a good tactic... I'm liking where your head's at.

This kinda crap is exactly why I cancelled my magazine subscriptions & seldom watch hunting vids anymore... Everything is guides, outfitters & tapemeasures. Rich men & wanna-be tv starts sitting there smiling over animals they bought, rather than hunted for. At least everyone now knows what a jackass this guy is. Don't see many endorsments in his futuer...

For me, it's a no-brainer. If I've already put an arrow in it & it's still light enough to see my sights, I'm finishing the job. If it's too dark to see my sights, then try a reverse half-nelson, followed up with a sleeper-hold.

A great Northern AZ buck

Awesome buck. Congrats to Gary! -
Awesome buck, man! Can't even tell ya how jealous I am, that's my dream hunt right there, high-racked mulies above the treeline. Where do I sign to get in the Graylight fanclub???

Nice pics Doug! That reminds me, I know I got a couple cams w/ dead batteries & full chips that also need checking....

You could head a little further east & try hunting in the rolling hills just south of Superior. I've probably kill 25-30 of 'em out there w/ my bow over the last 4 years. Just don't expect to have more than about 45 minutes of decent hunting right at sun-up & about the same right before complete dark with the temperatures we've been having. Matt S.

AGFD accused of "game farming" for bighorns

+1 I'm no biologist, but it seems logical to me that when you live in a desert environment that goes through cyclic weather patterns which include prolonged periods of drought, you're going to see severe swings in animal populations, both predator & prey. It's only based on 18 years of hiking & hunting in this state, but my observation is that the rapid explosion of the 2-legged predator population & the housing developments they live in that has caused the deer, sheep & pronghorns the majority of their troubles, much more so than lions. -
Albino Corn snake babies are finally here!!

I've got a Mexican black king, just about 4 ft. on the nose. He's way mellow, except when hungry. -

How big do you expect they will get & how much are you asking? I really like the coloring on them. Matt S. -
Knowing what it costs to keep a 2000 sq/ft house cool, I don't want to even think about the power bill on one that size! They can keep it.

I spotted an all white muley doe south of Prescott about 10 years ago... was not fortunate enought to get a pic of it, however....

All be interested to see some of the cross bred ones. How long do you expect they'll get? I've got a mexican king that's about 4 ft., but would like one that's bigger than him. Matt S. -
Spotted another sticker this weekend... IN SAN DIEGO!!!
mattys281 replied to mattys281's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
It is pretty yuppy there, but there's still some great "glassing" opportunities on Mission Beach! But in this case, glassing refers to the sun-glasses that keep your wife from seeing what you've spotted! Just remember, move your eyes, not your head (learned that one the hard way.... MORE THAN ONCE!).... -

Which one of you coues-killers was cruise around Mission Beach in a chevy pick-up this last Saturday afternoon (6/13) at around 3:30??? Got a pic of the truck, but left the camera at home... Doesn't shock me too much to see this stickers around the Valley of the Scum here, but sure surprised me to run into one in So.Cal. -
EVen though it's my first bull tag, I'm thinking that shooting a small bull in Az during the Sept hunt would be a waste of my good luck in the draw, so I'm planning on putting an arrow in a 5x5 or better, or I'll be eating tag soup. My bosses have already been informed that they will not be seeing me for the entire season until I tag out, so at least I've got some time to work with .

Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing. matt s.

Great pics. Had the same experience w/ a muley doe & her fawn a couple summers ago. Good times!

Out doin some early season scouting, looking for sheds & checking trail cams.... came across this guy cat-napping under a tree at 38 yards. Why do I always forget to buy the danged lion tag! Ohh well, guess I'll pick one up before my next trip... I've glassed up one or two of these critters & seen quite a few turn up on my trail cams, but this is the first one I've ever been that close to. Pretty exciting! No lions in this one, but still a nice view of the beautiful White mountains!

My first close-lion-encounter...

You win! My encounter was not nearly as exciting as that! -

He/she stared at me for a minute or so & finally got fed up w/ the voyeur... Can't blame it, I can't sleep if someone's staring at me either. Finally got up & took off outta there. No luck on the sheds yet. -
This was my first archery deer, taking in Jan '08. When I dropped him off at the taxidermist & he said it would be a little over a year, my heart landed in my boots.... but I stayed pretty busy this year & the time passed quickly enough! He did a great job & it was worth the wait!
