    Playing God

AND outta the record books. Record books are all about who spend the most money anyway, so what's the problem here?

    game plan

I have a three step plan that is simple and fool proof: 1. Find the deer b. Get close to the deer IV. Immediately begin searching for another deer after botching step 2. 4. Catalog alllllllll the reasons why bowhunting deer is so hard in this state and how this year is 'weird' for one reason or another and prepare the 'i was close but....' story for my coworkers when I return and they want to know what happened.

I think if you're ever going to see something truly radical from this clown, it'll be soon. He's a second termer now, and doesn't need to worry about getting re-elected, so our pal Barry is free to do basically whatever he wants with no fear of political repercussions.

    Stuff handed down from parents/grandparents.......

Here's a pic of Grandpa from Berlin & a pic of his war trophies he brought home. Apparently he also had a bunch of rifles at one point, but granny didn't like guns so she made him get rid of them. The pistols are what he was able to keep hidden in the bathroom closet.

Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )

I guess I've been real fortunate in this regard. Theres only a couple guys I've hunted with over the last several and I'd be willing to go any where with either of them any time. Good guys. Last couple years I've been taking my daughter along with me. We've done a couple backpacking hunts and she's a pretty tough little cookie. When she gets bored while im gassing she just lays down and cat naps on the rocks. Not bad for a thirteen year old.

No Kidding Coach! The Yuma County Sheriffs Office has a Bearcat and an MRAP. Never heard of or seen an IED in Yuma other than the ones they test at YPG. Overkill! If these guys want to act like soldiers join the Marines and go fight real bad guys that shoot back! You crazy? A guy could get killed doing that! Its far easier to assert your alpha male status by picking on unarmed or at least underarmed, civilians.

    Finding hidden springs

The trouble with maps too is that they are often old and can be inaccurate. I was pointed to a couple in a wilderness area via topo map only to find that there'd been fires, followed by flooding and landslides which had completely buried the spring I was looking for. You gotta check them out yourself.

The year before. No more of that for me. I left one out last year in my super duper secret spot that was more than a mile down a hiking trail and then about 70-80 yards off the trail. Im not sure during which hunt I lost it but someone pried it off the tree bear box and all. Made for a disappointing trip last week end when I went to replace the batteries and swap cards. Thats the third one I've donated to immoral jackasses in the last couple years so im hangin up the trail cam game for a while. None of the ones i lost were any where close to a road. Nearest was about a mile. It appears thieves are extending their range.
  13. Ive seen several deer including bucks go back and forth across Mr lemon rd during the middle of the day during the jan archery hunt. Theres plenty of places you could set up an ambush without hiking for miles, although you may want some help to help you pack it out if they take off down hill.
  14. Do you archery hunt or rifle? Ive only ever bowhunted for coues but a few years ago I switching d from spot and spook to sitting ambushes instead. The net result for me has been that I see a lot less deer on a given day but I get far more close encounters and a lot more shot opportunities. I guess what im asking is have you considered sticking with your preferred area but changing tactics instead of units?

Absolutely without a doubt!!!! I have experienced it first hand. I had five Coues bucks coming into a water tank daily between 09:30 and 13:45. The rancher placed around 50 to 75 head in this small pasture three days before the Aug. hunt. I sat it for three days and in that time the cows drank that tank nearly dry and I never saw the bucks or any deer for that matter, just cows in my face all day every day. With the cows hanging inside the tank fencing it kept the deer out. +1 on this. My favorite stomping ground out in 24b got over run with range cattle a few years ago and it definetely altered the deer hangouts. The upshot though is that the range cattle is natures bulldozer and they've created some pretty decent trails into some nasty areas. Good for the deer and the hunters chasing them. But they will clean out your salt in a hurry.

Try using a slick trick or rage broadhead. They won't help your accuracy any, but the slick tricks are heat seeking and the rage explodes on contact, thus making the shot placement irrelevant. If your really concerned about loss of meat, I hear that the ulmers edge will even butcher, wrap and ship your meat home for you. True story, I read it on archerytalk.

    Hunting's Next Perversion

My glare is so intimidating that whenever I tried to use trail cams they would shatter on the selfie test picture. Now I just shake the pines and make them tell me where the deer are. I'd post a picture to prove it but I dont want to be responsible for all the broken computer monitors. I NEVER thought I would read "selfie" on this site. That is a perversion in itself! Ohh come off it. Everyone that's ever used a trailcam has a selfie shot to test the aim..... right??? Guys??? It's not just me, right...... b40142052296966f.jpg

Just grin him to death... Nah, you whip em til they get close enough to the road, what with quads being unethical for game retrieval and all, then you choke them til they tap out and load themselves into the back of the truck. The mean grin is for scaring mountain lions into submission. At least I hope it works on lions, it sure doesn't impress my wife much...

Trail cameras, drones, trip wires, infrared scopes, heat seeking missiles and slick trick broadheads. ... heck with all of it! Next season im just going to cut me a good stout switch and go find a bear. The way a real man does it!
  25. I got a house that I'm getting ready to put of for sale. I have some minor repair work that needs done, but I have no time or interest in doing it myself. Type of work is touch-up painting, caulking, touching up some grout in tile that has chipped out, fix a sliding glass door with bad rollers, etc. The same house also needs stairs put in. We replaced the carpet downstairs with ceramic tile & the carpet upstairs with wood laminate flooring, but never replace the crappy carpet that's on the stairs. If somebody does this type of work or knows someone who does, please have them get in touch. Call or text me at (602)908-2931. the last couple guys I hired from this site worked out real well for me, so I look forward to working the CWT family again. Thanks & take care. Matt
