    Redemption Buck!!!!! Good Pics

Little over 50 hours. He's not the big buck I missed. Brian Hes one heck of a buck. Way to get it done. I've got a buddy that has a little trouble sitting still. I'm trying to convert him into an ambush hunter and you just gave me some more great ammo.

    19A Coues?

I saw some back in the mid 90s right along the side of hwy 169. I was so surprised there was whitetails there that I dang near wrecked my car slamming on the brakes and rubbernecking to see them. Good luck!

    Redemption Buck!!!!! Good Pics

Awesome man! Way to get it done!
  6. After having a disappointing week up on the Kaibab for my first attempt at a trophy mule deer hunt, I pulled the plug on the operation and came home early. Spent a couple days resting up with the wife & kids, then jetted off to 27 for a three day stint in some more familiar country. I took this guy this morning on the second day. This is the third coues I've take with my bow and by far the best so far.

    Patience pays off!!

Sounds like you've already learned the most important lesson any bowhunter can learn: even a great deer spot sometimes takes a few days to produce! Thats the difference between being a bowhunter and a bow hiker. Keep hunting like that and you'll be putting lots of heads on the wall and meat in the freezer.

Last round of trail cam pics.

Seems like you have to sit a spot for 4-5 days to really know if its any good. Theres always deer that dont get caught on camera.

    I Blew It!

I couldnt venture a guess about inches, but I can tell you that either one would look real nice hanging on my wall.

    I Blew It!

Flip side is that buck also knows to check the trees now. Are you hunting over salt or water? If you know where that buck will be standing scoot on back to 40 yards. Every deer I've ever shot at under 30 yards has jumped, but at 40+ they just stand there and watch that arrow come. I've killed a mess of them under 20 that never flinched, first one to do it to me. Have had mule deer and elk (surprisingly) do it Seen them jump the string for others. I'm about over it. Wouldn't change anything that I did. Would take the same shot again. Sometimes it's just not meant to be. Short memory, on to the next one. Back at it tomorrow. Brian Thats the way to do it. Keep after it you'll get him.

    1 day to hunt

My bad, 22 IS where I was thinking of! East side of the Mazatzal, good glassing country. I don't know about the Madashell part though, those hills are nice & gentle compared to some of the other crap I've pulled deer out of.

    1 day to hunt

I think 21 has good access around the Mazatzal wilderness area. The couple of roads I've been on that lead into the trailheads were very easily passable for passenger cars, but it's been a couple years. From the trail heads, there's plenty of easy foot access in the rolling lower hills surrounding the actual wilderness area. I've not hunted there, but I've done 3 or 4 backpacking trips in the Mazatzal and found deer and a couple little sheds. I've also seen a couple herds of javis in the foothills leading up to the W.A. It's good glassing country, and not to far of a drive from the Valley of the Scum.
