Fortunately my daughter has a youth deer hunt in a couple weeks then a youth javelina hunt two weeks later, so I'll be able to get out and kick some brush. But im dying to throw on the backpack and bivy out on MY ridge. Ive already got too many plans for my vacation time next year, so its not a january for me to be picky: first forky with eyegaurds or better is taking a ride in that backpack.

Do you guys run for lions too?

That really sucks to hear. I load my less valuable stuff the night before but leave anything thats worth some money by the front door. Had some of my neighbors here in avondale let themselves into my jeep before so dont risk it. Glad he's still able to get out. Good luck hope we see a grip and grin picture!

Maybe she just got used to seeing you and didnt think you were dangerous. Did you see the pbs program 'touching the wild'? Its incredible. Guy got accepted into a mule deer herd. Had wild deer all around him coming up to him and grooming him. You can see it on pbs.org.

The hunt trphyhntr has is managed for quality bucks.... Obviously not you, but a lot of us hunt for quality bucks. A good hunt is great to have but a monster buck is even better! Kudos to whom ever the guide service is! Sounds like some classy people there!Trphyhntr, stick with it, the big buck will show up!! Good luck! Obviously not me huh? 3 things: 1. "Quality" for me is determined by effort and the experience, not a tape measure. 2. I've already shot a couple book deer with my bow. 3. I see p&y caliber deer dang near every year. The point I was trying to make is that theres plenty of good hunting where you dont have to deal with this crap that he experienced.

This is exactly why I choose to focus on decent areas in middle of the road units, instead of trying to find the best spot in the best unit. The quality of the hunt is determined by a lot more than just the number and size of the bucks. I usually go through an entire hunt without ever laying eyes on another hunter. Just the way I like it!

Yet to kill anything with mine, but my Remington bdl 700 is dream to shoot. I hate rounds that kick the crap out of you.

Two things: 1.) Public land is full of the public. B.) 99.9% of the public are inconsiderate, self absorbed jackasses. III.) Take one of the formentioned jac. sses and influence their behavior with monetary gain and/or ego inflation and you get something so ugly distasteful and heinous.... ive not the words to describe it. At least not on amandas forum. Lets just say it should be legal to groin punch such individuals on sight without provocation.

33 is a great unit. I've seen more deer in a single day in there than I have in an entire season in some other units. Be patient, work the glass more than your boots and you'll do well.
