I think kidso nailed it. All too easy to get turned around when your heart is thumping and you feel the pressure of losing the light. Im sure you'll find him in the a.m. & can't wait to see the pics!

Congrats! Sounds like a dream hunt to me. Ive taken my daughter the last two years but have yet to be able to get her on one. Thats an experience he'll never forget!

It's all part of Obama's ,and his elites master plan. Defund the miltary, and get rid of High ranking Patriotic Officers who would question his motives or authority. Targeting of Conservatives, Constitutionalists, and Patriots Eliminate Christianity at all levels Create racial, and ethnic, divide and hatred Create Class warfare Strenghten our enemies, while making America weaker. Fanning the flames of hatred against LEO's. Executive Amnesty that further divides the nation Destruction of the healthcare system It's a very long list, and we are living in the middle of it I would like to agree, but as convenient as it would be to blame him, I believe he is simply a reflection of the majority of chit-bags that dare to call themselves Americans these days. If you are a hard worker, you are NOT the majority. If you show any thing that vaguely resembles financial responsibility in your life, or personal accountability, again you are one of the few. To heck with living by a moral compass, if you have one at all that at least causes you to pause before acting in a self-serving, inconsiderate manner, you are rare. Obama is simply a symptom of a sick populace.

Aristotle wrote: "tolerance is the last virtue of a dying culture." After decades of being told that you're a bigot/racist/homophobe/ignorant/red neck/whatever, our society is now completely tolerant of everything, except personal accountability. We are completely intolerant of that. Welcome to the new 'new world', which is beginning to look more and more like the old work from which our colonial ancestors fled.

What size is the objective lense? Basic rule of thumb for optics is you want at least a 4mm exit pupil, or you're going to have trouble in low light situations. To get the exit pupil, you simply divide the objective lense by the magnification (I.e. a pair of 20x80 b inos gets the 4mm). They have all kinds of coatings and different grades of glass now that are supposed to increase the light gathering efficiency, but you'll never know for sure until you hit the field with them, unfortunately.

Little late season freak action!

That's an awesome trophy! Congrats! -
Heck I'd love to have it, and that seems lik a great price for that type of weapon. The only part im having trouble with is the $20k for the divorce attorney and the $2-3k per month I'll be paying in alimony and child support if my wife were to find out that I spent that much on a rifle, considering how rarely I shoot the ones I already own. I guess for now I'll have to admire from a distance. Good luck on your sale.

Ain't none left.Thers still one or two.... they ain't easy though, thats for sure. I was half joking when I said this. We had a pig boom down there a few years ago. Since they raised the bag limit numbers have really tailed off. I've seen one in my last 7 days in the field there. There are still parts that are just fine but our herds took a beating. Taken as such. That unit has always been hit or miss for me. Ive killed a couple in there and some days it seems like they're everywhere. Other days youd swear theres not one in the whole county.

One of these days I will put an arrow in one of these
mattys281 replied to apache12's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Im not going to fess up to how many years I spent chasing deer before I finally arrowed one, but i'll tell you this: it was a lot! when I finally did get one, it was the result of sheer stubborn persistence, a lot of effort, a ton of vacation time, and some good old fashioned dumb luck. Between the dec '07-jan '08 season , I'd officially logged 14 days of hunting before I managed to stalk to within 50 yards of a nice 4x4 muley and finally wrap my tag around my first deer with any weapon. You just have to keep after it. The good news is that after you get the first one the sense of impossibility vanishes and its much easier to drop more of them afterwards. -
Congrats to her. Thats a great coues buck!

Congratulations on a beast of a ram! Awesome trophy!

Good topic. I can't think of many things that are more irritating than a noisy pack. Never thought about saddle soap, I'll have to stop at the tack store.

Snow isnt much of an issue for my january haunts, but I did get dusted with a couple inches of it a few years ago, 2011. I was trying to clear the snow off the ground so I'd have a clean crunch free place for my feet on one of my favorite ambush spots and this nice little 8 point heard me and thought it was some other guy making a scrape on his turf. He popped over the ridge right across from me and closed from 150 yards to 30 yards in about 1.5 minutes or less. I barely had time to grab my bow and get ready. He busted me on the draw and I missed him on his way out of there. Two hours later I shot a little button buck. It was a pretty eventful morning and I wouldnt mind sitting in the snow again at some point.

Congrats! Nothing like the first deer.

Those are some impressive deer. Way to get it done in 2014!

24b is a good unit. Ive let the air out of a few of them in there. After all the rifle hunts that just went through there, you may be better off hitting a hiking trail in the wilderness area or the az trail to get off the road a little bit.
-
If i have a little time on my side, id much rather sit an ambush. Much better odds of getting a close quarters shot at relaxed game. You will see less animals than you would working the binos, but you'll get a much closer look at the ones you do see and you'll get higher percentage shot opportunities.

Deer and ELK?
mattys281 replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
The away they keep showing up all over the place, Im quickly becoming convinced that elk are nothing more than very big rats with antlers. They keep sneaking on freight cars of trains, truck trailers, ships and everything else so that soon they will literally be everywhere. Start buying glue traps now because soon they will even be in your pantry. And i still wont be able to draw a bull tag! -
I picked up a copy at the jacob lake visitor center this year. Only read a few stories but it was pretty interesting. Id like to finish it but frankly am not sure where the heck it is now that i moved....

You looking for muleys or whitetails? I've seen more mule deer in that area.
