    Water in the backcountry

I dont eat or drink half as much as I should when backpacking, so unless im out for a long time I carry enough to get me by. 1-1/2 gallon can last me 4-5 days. I've used chlorine tabs with no ill effects. They are supposed to be more effective than iodine on some of the tougher bugs like cryptosporidium. However your water can still be a bit.... well..... chunky depending on the source. I dont mind a little grit in my drink, but if your more prissy about some chunks in your water than an extra pound or two of pack weight, take the filter.

Excus me if someone already posted this, but al bundy called this one 20 years ago. Guess he must've been pretty fruity even back then to get the attention of the writers of Married With Children https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=juPn7yGObm8

    Tonight's menu Catfish Tacos

I'll have to try to catch some this summer. I made the mistake of trying to eat some I caught out of the gila river a few years back.. big mistake! I havent tried cats since, but some high country caught ones could be just the thing to beat down that bad memory.

New Country Music - Jed Morrison

I wish the best of luck to him. Country music badly needs a few cowboys back in their ranks.

    7mm08 monster

It is very chrisp and I usually don't change factory trigger I just get use to them Im not much of a gunner and may be showing my ignorance, but why would you not lighten it up? All the factory ones ive had (which isnt that many) were always so tight i couldnt stay on target i had to tug so hard on them. My 14 yo girl was shooting about 6" at 100 yards with her rem 780 and the factory trigger set at 7lbs. I watched a youtube video on adjusting it and reset it myself to 3.5 and the next time we went she was shooting about 1.5" groups at 100.

What a world we live in where a guy can trade in his 60 year old hog for a brand new clam and melons. God I'm glad I aint single anymore, although most people cant afford to be that fruity even if they wanted to.

    The long season?

Gentlemen, Get the popcorn because I am going to pick a fight. Murphy your comments are rude and asinine. You can have a difference of opinion without getting slanderous. She said her only experience was with young man feeding his family. I have known several people that have taken game out of season for a better reason than taking a trophy. One was an older gentleman many years my senior who shot 76 elk in his lifetime some with tags some without. None of the meat went to waste and him growing up on the west slope of Colorado in cattle country never taking the breeding stock. He never shot a cow, calf, spike, or bull above 5 points. Another one is my brother in law who grew up very poor. Simple if they did not have game meat they did not eat. Yet another one an apache friend of mine, had a tag for a cow or calf. I was with him on the reservation when we came up to a spike (not legal that year for the tag he had) he shot it. I said you just shot a spike and he goes "look it was sucking his mother's t_t" This practice is socially accepted on the Rez. Murphy, I find most of your comments self righteous and of little value. I enjoy nature girls post because it reminds me of the journey as a hunter I started many years ago. I do not condone hunting out of season for any reason, but in some cases it is understandable. It is against the law to take game out of season, but isn't a greater crime for an impoverished family to starve. The only thing I guess I can say about your comment is.....IDGAF what YOU think of my post. It's nice to know that you and her know all these people that poach and post on a hunting community that is here to do what we love which is hunting and do it legally. You don't condone it but it's OK in some cases. Wrong is wrong. illegal is illegal. What part of that don't you understand? I said IF there is NO other way to feed your family then do what you must. That's a big IF. Does it matter if your friend shot an animal that wasn't a trophy or a calf suckin' on a teet? Yes. He had a tag and decided to shoot an animal that wasn't legal excepted on his rez or not. Does it matter that your friend shot 76 elk in his lifetime some with tags and some without? Yes. Why didn't he just shoot a beef cow the times he didn't PAY for a tag? As far as naturegirl. I enjoy her pictures. She however did state that she had all these people telling her they shoot 4 animals a year. Doesn't sound like ONE experience to me. So again I say, IDGAF what you think. This is what I think. I believe there are more people here that think this way as well. I'm done with my popcorn. Are you? I wonder how many of the people that feel they have no other choice but to poach have a hard time deciding which of their many firearms to do it with? I also knew some guys who went on 'meat hunts' when I was a kid, my step dad among them, and each and every one of them had thousands of dollars worth of weapons, not to mention enough miscellaneous crap around their houses to put on one helluva yard sale and raise some cash. Not to mention the option to simply get a job and keep their arrogant, self-righteous, know-it-all mouths shut long enough to simply do what they were told and actually keep the job for more than a couple months. I'm glad I took an interest in archery and started reading Bowhunter magazine where the writing of gentlemen such as M.R. James, Dwight Schuh, Larry D Jones & Chuck Adams taught me the right way to do it. Some people are victims of bad luck, most are victims of their own foolish pride & inability to control themselves.

    cartoons

None of this is about religion. It's about a-holes trying to intimidate other people into conforming to their beliefs, or submitting to their authority, whichever term you prefer. I promise you, if Christianity was the dominant religion of Syria, Iraq or any of those Stans, you'd still have the wars, the bombing & the terrorism. don't believe it, read up a little on the Irish Republican Army, the confederate army, the ku klux klan, the Nazis, any of the crusades etc etc etc... it's really not hard to use the bible to justify violence if violence is what you thirst for. And if necessary, they'd rewrite the bible to support their views and lean on their religion as justification just like they are now. Jesus may help you sleep at night, but he would not stop this evil people from being evil people. The problem is you have a bunch of illiterate, ignorant, superstitous peasants be coerced & brainwashed by a bunch of power hungry greedy jackasses, which are their governments. The religion is not much more than a footnote in the story, although our media likes to grab it so that they can scream 'hate crime' and sell some papers. Radicals would be radicals regardless of which God they kneel to.

Dealing with 100 days of heat

With that bad shoulder Bob I sure hope you don't have to sign that tag over to someone........ If he does have to, I'll start the bidding at a case of coronas, 2 limes, and I'll punch your choice of Miley cyrus, brantley gilbert, or all the members of nickelback right in the beanbag and yell 'YOU KNOW WHAT THAT WAS FOR!' right afterwards. Throw in a punch on Justin Beiber, and you have a deal Love to do it, but I dont hit chicks, no matter how much they deserve it.

Dealing with 100 days of heat

My preferred method for dealing with the summer heat is switching from heavier darker beers and wheat beers to something lighter with a lime shoved in it. Corona fills the bill nicely when sitting out back watching the grass get scorched, but dont go corona light that craps for women and men who wish they were women.

    Species Identification ?

Another for lion. Unless your camera is positioned about 5feet off the ground, that critter looks long and low built = lion!
  20. I picked up a pretty nice Remington 700 bdl about a year or so ago and topped it with a trijicon Accupoint 5-20 x 50 scope. So far I've only been plinking close range stuff, w/ cheapie FMJ rounds. I stocked up on whatever I could find when this round was tough to get. Anyhow, I've got nice glass on it & the wife set me up with a nice bipod for Christmas. I want to start shooting longer, but am not at the point that I want to invest in handloading my own stuff. Don't have time for another hobby. Can anyone recommend a decent off the shelf round? Thanks.

Are you a Democrat, Republican, or a Redneck

I think I'm a redneck republican, except that I'd be throwing 9mm lead.
