I cant even remember the last time I shot at 20 yards. I usually go right to 60 and bounce around between 40 and 60. I will also often only shoot one arrow from each yardage and mix in some odd balls like 53 or 47, etc. I never met a deer that stood there long enough for me to shoot a group at him, although I guess there may be one out there somewhere. Go do some 3d shoots too. Tons of fun and great practice as you only get 1 arrow per target, unless the course is empty.

Im no expert on animal anatomy, but my understanding of it is that there's a pretty big hole right at the front end of an elks rib cage where the throat passes into the animal. I would think if the elk was facing you with his head up youd actually have an open shot right into his chest cavity. Head down, very different story: then youd have to unicorn him.

I have quite a few trail cam pics of a little 27 bull with an arrow piercing right under the hide. He must have been standing broadside looking at the shooter and the guy put it too far right and slipped it right under the hide on the neck. My pics were from july, so the injury had to be at least 8 months old at that point.

Ebay and craigslist, most likely. too easy to steal and sell in the digital age. In fact one of our members here got his stolen bow back by watching backpage until it came up for sale.

This is me also. I've lost a couple that were well off the beaten path, not near a waterhole, road or hiking trail. The still eventually go nicked. I'll be more careful while using up the ones I have remaining, but have no plans to spend more money for others to have my cameras. I always like surprise parties anyway, so I guess I'll find good looking areas & just wait to see who shows up.

I need a website built for my hobby business I run. I dont know anything about doing this type of thing and frankly dont want to develop a new skill. If someone on here is good at it or has a computer savy acquaintence that can help me out, please pm so we can swap info and talk about an agreeable fee. Thanks.

Nice spot. Looks like you found a couple more obama supporters.

I appreciate the advice, but ive had building one myself on my to do list for about 2 years now. At this point its worth paying someone a reasonably fee to have a good job done and get it over with. I generate a lot more by working those extra hours than what this will cost.

Nice work!

I dont like worrying over stuff like that, so I typically just park at the trailhead and walk in. Rarely ever see another soul until I walk out again.

Nice pics. Looks like they're off to a good start.

Happy birthday. Hope it was a good one for you!

Sweet set-up! Hope you get it bloody real soon.

You should pm oneshot. Super nice guy that sincerely enjoys helping others to succeed. I bumped into him a few years ago down there and he gave us a couple tips that had us on deer within about 2 or 3 hours of talking to him. Thats a good unit, good luck!

I looked at some sites a while back just for poops and grins. Shooting from memory but I believe it was $4000ish.

With these idiots does that mean just the tenderloin and backstraps? probably cut off the legs and maybe (but probably not ) the backstraps. Poachers cut off big pieces as fast as they can and then get the heck out of there. This is one of the 'i needed to feed my family' guys that were discussed a couple weeks ago in 'the long season' thread.
