Not my story or pics to share but Russ's kiddo got his first buck and went on to another hunt right after this and also tagged an elk in wyoming a few days after. Ill say this, the kid was a trooper and put in some serious grown man effort on his hunt and handled it like a champ! Way to go Griff!

I'm embarrassed to admit how many arrows get launched on my behalf vs successful stalks. Buck fever is a real thing. Persistence is key, also switched to IQ bowsite which helps slow me down a bit to verify my shot. it's real easy to clench your bow when you are jacked up and a little off adds up as yardage increases. Also you mentioned downhill I think. I'd suggest a rangefinder that adjusts for angle compensation

If you dont find something used and since meopta prolly wont have stuff available for awhile check out Tract. They sell consumer direct, offer and LEO discount. Side by side they are rated very similar to meopta and even a bit cheaper in cost.

First arrow has blood but hard to see. Did not have complete pass through. Grass was high and I thought he was more broadside but he was quartering away from me. Arrow went in right in the guts went through the lungs and through the ribs and broke off the broad head right up against the opposite shoulder blade. Broad head fell out went we took the front quarters off to put him in the cooler. I did have 3 witnesses and Zack saw the broad head come out. Just in case anyone is wondering if this is a Blake situation. Oh and i think he pulled the arrow out himself.

Zac, since you were there last did you ask the first hunter politely if you could stay? The ethical thing would be ask if you can stay and give the other guy first shot opportunity. Sounds like you just showed up and decided to stay offering no courtesy. When i had my tag i went early knowing someone else would show up, when Russes guy showed up he was gonna leave, i told him to stay but i asked for first shot opportunity and it was a done deal, everyone wins.
