I was wondering what the rest of the state had going on. Last three days here have been clouding up with some sprinkles here and there. Wasn't sure if it was the tail end of the tropical storm that was supposed to hit mexico. I read that we are supposed to have a really good monsoon this year, hope it happens.

I didn't say he took a plea deal. Only that that he said it wasn't worth the hassle to fight it. I also said they felt confident they could fight it, and I think the guides probably wanted him to. But Duwane was the one that said screw it. I don't know if that meant that he took a plea deal, or if that is what they did, or are going to charge him with. And like I said he couldn't talk too freely on the subject. Nothing's changed in my mind. I'd hire these guys if I was looking for a guide. Here's an example of how this could go down because it happened to me. I had a cam on a drinker. Someone else had put corn out out at the same spot as it is a well known spot with fairly heavy traffic. A forest service guy saw me checking my camera and assumed I put the corn there. Well, at this time baiting was still legal it was like 10 years ago. I told him baiting was legal, So he was all we can call game and fish right now, full on know it all attitude and everything. Well of course I was right and little Ricky got to put his foot in his mouth. Point being, I could have been charged if baiting was illegal but did nothing wrong. I could not prove i didn't put it there though because it was out of sight of my cam. Best pics I got off that cam was a couple asscheeks mooning my camera. Just because Duwane decided he doesn't wanna fight it doesn't mean he is guilty. But playing devil's advocate here, it doesn't mean he's innocent either. So I will take my opinion based on my experience with him and his guys based on what I experienced in camp and support them.

Well at the end of the day I'm just another Lincoln log cutter with an opinion. I doubt the tax stamp will even be an option. I do feel like the left is gaining traction and I believe a big change is probably coming but we will see. I'm all for armed personal in schools, metal detectors etc. In fact if I was a teacher I would carry concealed even if I knew I could get fired for it.

I agree, there usually is a reason. May not be what one would assume though. @dentedr I honestly don't disagree at all. It's so competitive and cuthroat now. Guys getting in blinds at 3am to beat the rush and the guys that get there late won't leave. Then you got 3 blinds on the same waterhole jockeying for first shot which ultimately will just end up with bad shots and wounded animals. I don't think it will be long before these altercations will escalate into full on brawls with someone getting seriously hurt or even killed.

The whole "they" will be happy mentality i think is a problem on both sides. Both sides want it all and are unwilling to budge. Of course that's a possibility, time will tell.

I don't disagree on lethality. And the 40 minute time frame was very unusual. And yup it's all hypocrital primarily driven by what the media reports. But now the media has done a good job of swaying public opinion on black scary guns. I'm pro gun but I can live with a compromise over losing everything.

So do you have info of him baiting spots that he sends his guides to? because that's not at all what I got from the accusations it sounds like that's what you're implying? I also took his glassing class and we glassed deer on dang near every ridge. seems like that would have been a lot of work for a senior citizen to make sure there's bait out there so that I can see some deer on a $300 glassing class.

I didn't mean to imply they did cheat if that's how it sounded. I seriously doubt they did. But I don't know the details. I can only judge those guys based on my personal experience. And all was good.

I don't see to many swat guys holding bolt actions in their photos. If they are the same why aren't they using them.

Not my idea, and I did not suggest that just the tax stamp would stop anything. Only suggested that it could be part of an overall solution to help curtail this particular type of shooting. Not to stop it completely. Honestly, I'd take the tax stamp option for ARs over the loss of all the crap Joey is trying to take away.

So.... My phone took a shite last day to apply for elk. If you texted me since then, no you didn't piss me off. Still haven't gotten around to trying to retrieve all my contacts from my old phone yet. Just burning the candle at both ends right now. Way busy. This post was bugging me so had my wife get ahold of a friend on FB to get Nick's number again. Had a brief conversation with him this morning. Obviously he couldn't tell me all the details but last couple years game and fish had Duwane and his outfit in their cross hairs. They threw some charges at him and in the end the only one they could conceivably make stick was a baiting charge. They all felt they had everything on their side to fight it and Duwane basically said screw it he's done with the BS. Decided to just "officially" retire. He already wasn't guiding himself anyway and anyone who knows him and Nick know full well Nick is capable of taking the reins. Also since Duwane wasn't actually taking clients out himself anymore he thought this was the easiest solution. Duwane the last few years already wasn't taking people out personally, he was basically their to be in camp and jump in where ever a guide needed an extra pair of eyes. Since then the guides have been instructed to air on the side of caution and not give anyone any reasons to sling accusations. Now I'm gonna offer some food for thought. All the crap we hear about the big name outfitters here in AZ, and what they are in common knowledge amongst the majority of us to see doing as unethical, shady and downright illegal I can't help but wonder why Duwane and his gang are in the cross hairs. I honestly found it all confusing. I know so many first hand stories and even more second hand stories of all the BS that's going on these days with guides. I honestly find it very surprising that the guides that seem to be targeted lately aren't the ones that everyone knows are effin twats. And no Nick didn't say this, it's just me wondering why the outfit that teaches the guys to hunt by scouting and glassing and not rely on cams is the one under the spotlight. I have a lot more I'd love to say but maybe this is not the post for it. Anyhoo, if any of you guys were thinking of hiring Duwanes outfit rest assured everyone I met in camp have been seriously solid dudes. I would not hesitate at all to give them a whirl. And I certainly can vouch for them as far as everything I have personally seen when I was in camp. Out of all the guides out there the Adams camp is one I don't have anything negative to say about.

I honestly think that if most mass shooters had bolt actions rather then semi autos then yes there would probably have been less fatalities. This particular shooting has panned out to be a lot different then most in the past. Coward cops and all.. Surprised this thread ain't in the dungeon yet.

Also in the minority here. I wouldn't be opposed to the tax stamp for an AR. But I also agree with edge and Roosevelt mark. Armed guards in schools, metal detectors and a tax stamp for semi auto rifles I could live with. Sometimes the right is as deeply entrenched as the left with not wanting to budge on an issue. This is one of those situations where something needs to be done and the above ideas combined are a good solution imo. A compromise is sometimes better then the all or nothing attitude that both the right and left have. Also, side note here. I think schools really need to crack down on the bullying. Some kids get ripped so hard at school they often feel like there is no way out for them. They are a bottle of rage that wants to be released, it's not surprising that alot of these shooters have this type of background. No it's not justified at all but when these kids snap it's not really surprising to me.
