Assisted a new hunter a couple days. Grass was chest high at some of my favorite spots. A lot of wind and weather down here as well. He did get a shot and missed but it was a tough shot. Didn't here too many rifles go off and didn't see as many people as I expected.

Like said above. Sight in with something where you can push down on the stock with a good cheek weld. Sight in is most important. In the field I like a triclawps for the front end and a primos trigger stick on the butt stock. I take a beanie or what's available and put it in the cradle of the trigger stick so I can push down on it with my cheek. You can never count on a prone shot in the field with tall grass. This method is the best I've found. If someone has a better idea I'm all ears.

I have heard stories of people believing that their flats were not just flats on the kaibab and strip. Maybe they are just stories but when I finally draw my archery tag up there I will have cams near my truck. Also heard of antis leaving nails on roads.

I wouldn't worry about camp as much but I'd have cams nearby watching traffic near your truck. Especially if you find a big one. I would just be overly cautious. Not trying crap in your Cheerios but if you find a real big buck you never know what someone might do to impede your success.

Bring spare tires and a couple cams to set on your camp and truck. This year will be interesting to see how things play out with the cam ban. Hopefully there won't be 20 guys glassing per hunter.

It's all good the guy needs some remodeling done so he'll hold it. Should be rolling by the time the next hunts come up next fall.

Vortex diamondback are great for kids, not too pricey but also good "enough". Bit if the budget suits you get them vipers which are slightly better.

Seems it's gonna happen either way. I understand not liking where the money is going but at the same time I'd love to see a consistent poster on this forum and an AZ resident win the contest. Especially a guy that's been here helping others including myself fill AZ tags.
