Very fun story. I never had much interest in the stink pigs. Grabbed a leftover tag when I had bait out one year just for the heck of it. This past year when I actually "hunted" them I developed a very well earned respect for them as a game animal. I and my kids will for now on be going every year for sure. fun times.

I have to be honest. In my ignorance I was never a fan of lion hunting with dogs. I thought there was no sport in it. This story has enlightened me to my own ignorance. It seems to happen more and more to me these days, I find myself realizing things aren't always what they seem. This was a fantastic write up and I wish I could have been there with you. You should consider a small 4x4 with a lift. AC, heat, storage area, and you dont need to eat everyone else's dust. Oh and you could spend probably half of what the side by side would cost. I've taken my lifted expedition into some place you wouldn't believe up around your way.

If they wanna waste the money on one and have game and fish confiscate it I'm all for that. It will probably get stolen or broken anyway if its up past the deadline.

I was very much for cameras for a long time but it seems it has gotten out of hand. Its only going to get worse. More and more fights / arguments are going to happen at waterholes over guys that feel "entitled" to the animal they have several pics of. Allow cameras from March 1st until August 1st or 31st. Make people scout for animals like our grandparents did or take the first legal animal they see for the purpose of meat.

No need for insulting one another here. We're all on the same team after all. But I would argue there's a difference between trapping within a quarter mile knowing there's potential to trap someone's dog, and hunting. It's not like anyone here's gonna shoot someone's dog. Even though it was probably supposed to be on a leash or whatever. I guess at least as long as your on your own property you should be able to do as you wish?

It would seem the sportsman are in fact divided. The biggest issue I have with it is the minority who doesn't even hunt whines and moans a bit and then laws are changed to control the majority. It's also a little aggravating when national forest areas are peppered with private homes. Case in point the East side of the huachucas. No it's not difficult to get past a quarter mile from a building but it's still annoying when people want nature in there back yard but don't want hunters.
