Stepped Away From the Dark Side
CatfishKev replied to creed_az_88's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
That's awesome man! Looks like the exact same setup I got my wife. I hope to tell a similar story soon. -
Well I guess I'll be the nerd and ask what the heck it is? My best guess was part of a spur on a boot? But I'm pretty sure thats wrong...
-
Seems plenty good enough for me.

Is it like a fawn distress call? I've seen videos of does running for it but not with bucks.

Which vortex spotter are you using?

You'd think there would be a lot of brass laying around if they were surrounded getting shot at like they claimed Exactly what I thought.

This is my wives favorite thing at Changs when we go there. Im not gonna lie, it was awesome! I highly recomend it especially for the bigger fish that might not be as good otherwise. The brine is similar to a few out there so I decided to do half Changs way and then take the other half in put them in the smoker most in the smoker were plain but one had lemon pepper seasoning. Heres the recipe I copied off Recipe Link... MARINADE/SAUCE: 2 cups water 2/3 cup soy sauce 3/4 cup light brown sugar 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic 1/2 teaspoon oolong tea OPTIONAL GARNISH: 6 handfuls fresh spinach 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh garlic 1 (5.5-ounce) can whole baby sweet corn, drained Make your sauce and marinade by combining the six ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes. Cool uncovered, then strain out the ginger and garlic. Put your sea bass fillets in a storage bag or a covered container with 2 cups of the marinade. Let the fish have a nice soak in the marinade for 5 to 6 hours in the fridge. If the sauce doesn't completely cover the fish, be sure to turn the fillets a couple hours in so that all sides get marinated. When you are ready to prepare the fish, preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Arrange the fillets on a foil-covered cooking sheet. Bake the fish for 22 minutes or until the edges of the fillets are starting to turn brown. Crank the oven up to a high broil and broil fish for 2 to 4 minutes or until you get some dark patches around the edge of the fillets. Just don't let them burn. As your fish is baking, heat up a wok or large skillet with one tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the spinach, garlic, and baby sweet corn, and a dash of salt and pepper to the pan. Sauté the veggies just until the spinach is wilted, then arrange half of the spinach and corn on each of two plates. When the sea bass is done broiling, use a spatula to carefully lay each fillet on the bed of spinach and baby corn. Split the remaining sauce and pour it over each of the fillets before serving. Heres what I did different... After tasting the brine it didnt seem quite right so I added another two packs of the tea added another 2/3 cup of soy sauce and added the ginger and garlic again. Then it tasted spot on to me but wife said it was a hair to salty but I didnt think so. She did thinki the finished product was spot on though. Oh and I put the filets in milk as soon as we got home, put in the brine the next morning for 6 hours. Enjoy!! First

PF Changs Oolong Marinated Seabass, With Catfish!
CatfishKev replied to CatfishKev's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Nope, but we have some friends that own one up on north oracle. Grain river asian bistro. Very good food and super nice people. Funny story, my wife would babysit their daughter. One day she and my daughter are stomping on fire ants. My wife freaks out and says what if they are buddhists? I was like "Geeze Brandy, just because they're Chinese it doesn't mean they're Buddhist." So her mom shows up to pick her up and sees what they are doing and starts yelling at the kid in Chinese. Turns out they were Buddhist... -
This is the guy I was referring to. Thanks for the help on the youth hunt man!

Thats the problem these days, you almost can't trust any source anymore. My wifes parents were all "Bush is evil!" and "worse president ever!" and my parents are like "Obamas the antichrist" "Obamas a muslim" and so on and so forth. All I can tell is that when sheep want to believe something they wan't to be true they are going to believe it. My wifes family.... sheep, my family.... sheep! Snapshot, I'm not saying that you are a sheep, I'm just saying that I have a hard time believing anything that anyone says anymore. It kind of sucks.

Wanna take me fishin??

Outstanding!!! Glad the trooper is going to be ok. What are the chances this is sensationalized by the media?t The media won't go full bore with a story that promotes gun ownership. If they did the headline would read something like... "Deranged trump supporter shoots innocent pedophile being harrasssed by homophobic racist cop" Or something along those lines... Theres more to this story it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Maybe the woman in the rollover was shot by the nutjob?

Wow that's cool man! Did you do any calling or stalk only? Got a call for my kids to try here soon. Hoping to have them run in and get my oldest son hooked.
-
Is that the same Dave who volunteers for the youth elk camp with the ADA? He knows 23 very well, and I'd be inclined to hire him solely for the fact that he volunteers to help the kids like he does, that's awesome.

Until that time comes and his opponent is another Hillary...... Give the guy a chance, even if he delivers on only half of his promises were still better off.

Sounds fun. Arizona has the best sunsets. Ashame they don't last long enough.

Looks like we're going to Eloy. Moms Bday is this month. Do you recommend waiting for warmer weather or does it not really make a difference? I'd imagine it's cold no matter what way the heck up There. Is it customary to tip the instructor?

Nope, said it was MY mom. But it was my wife's idea to take her....... Hmmmmmmm

Hunt help for regular guys with problems?
CatfishKev replied to muledeerarea33?'s topic in The Campfire
You're in benson aren't you? I'd be happy to help. He would qualify for a crossbow permit. I have a drawlock attached to a bow right now I was gonna use for the kids. If he drew a rifle tag he'd be able to hunt the river with a bow and draw lock. -

Can you even get your kid a license before ten? I know they can't hunt as the regs state but I'm wondering if I could get my 8 year old a license and start buying points ahead of time? I assume the answer is no but...

Cant take moms, I'm banking them for her. Maybe its time to hit Grandma up! Not looking to get them high value tags, just wanted a sure thing for the 23 youth elk hunt. Just trying to think ahead a hair is all. Already planning on doing the saftey course etc.
