You catch the other thread about the ice cream? I guess there was a superstar mule deer that had numerous pictures eating ice cream cones out of peoples hands. That thread got locked. Seen it a thousand times. Deer get famous and before you know it there hooked on Ben and jerry's. Then when they can't handle the pressure of fame they jump in front of a speeding Toyota pick up truck to end it all. So very sad.

Member big orange has the 6.5 for his daughter and his buddy has the 7-08. Says both are awesome. How i am doing it in my house is starting the kids on a 243 with a break \ silencer until they are comfortable then bump them to the 6.5 or 7-08 as there all around gun once they can carry around a little bigger rifle without banging it all up. I would not hesitate at all on the purchase other then the recoil for a young kid.

I had asked a similar question for kids. Since then started a sniper series on youtube and like trphyhntr mentioned tons of snipers use 10 power scopes. It really just comes down to What you are comfortable with.

I don't know much about rabies. If you leave something for dead that has it will any scavengers contract it if they eat dead animal?

Also got the 6.5 for my 15 year old daughter and the 7-08 for my 13 year old son. Can't wait to see how the creedmoor shoots. The 243 which was meant originally for my gun shy daughter is now going to be the official hand me down gun to the next 3 kids. 9 year old will be 10 just in time for next years hunts.
