Stupid scope ring qurstion
CatfishKev replied to Presmyk's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Are high quality rings less likely to leave ring marks of crush the tube? I've wondered this myself. -

Same guy called IAborn a "ignernt midwestern twat" for posting a simple question so you shouldn't be surprised. Even seemed to intentionally misspell the word ignorant which I thought was highly ironic.

Well my daughter didn't draw a elk or deer tag for the youth hunt but scored a leftover early 35a tag. Opening morning my mom had to have a valve put in for some upcoming cancer treatments which my wife had to take her to Tucson for. That left me on baby duty. I was at least able to go out in the am just to see how many people were out and try n spot something for her in the evening. Found 5 bucks together and one was a small 3x3. Once mom got back we headed out but there were trucks at the spot so we moved on. She had a crack at a couple forkies that night and missed. Next morning we got on some but they skylined themselves before the shot so we waited for a minute and went up the hill after them, spotted 2 more bucks from there but were to close to house to shoot. Monday evening my buddy Josh came out to help us out and we spotted a spike bedded down at last light. We got her all set up for a 255 yard shot and she missed. Tuesday morning we went out and started glassing different spots and spotted a group of 4 deer out in the open. Got her set up and she was able to get one shot @ 155 yards off before they went up over a ridge. She shot and the buck jumped straight up in the air like 4 feet. It was awesome! More great memories to be had this Halloween. We ended a great day with some trick or treating with all the kids!

I totally spaced too. Hope for some leftovers.

Are you glassing with decent glass and a tripod? That's probably the most important factor.

The baby even came out to poke him in the eyes and get her hands bloody. She also petted him and gave him a few kisses. 139 grain sst did its job. 7mm-08 My buddy Josh and I getting her set up. This one was a miss. Topped off the day with some trick or treating. And my daughter dabbing. -
That's awesome! Hats off to your wife for doing the field dressing on her own.

Optimal shooting distances for specific magnification scopes
CatfishKev posted a topic in Long Range Shooting
Looking for what would be considered optimal distances for 3-9, 4-12 etc. power scopes for a kid. Target would be deer. Not looking for what YOU are capable of, just a recomended baseline for kids generally speaking. It happens to be for my daughter who is still a little flinchy. She has a 243 currently which I have a can on order for but it wont be here in time. Thanks -
So dude I work with has Costco stretch pants which are like the outdoors water repellent ones for like $15. How could you go wrong? Thoughts???
