Rip Bill. Seemed like a great individual with never ending words of wisdom.
-
That really sucks. I was hoping for a chance to lay eyes on that beauty someday.

Ok, back on again. They were all dismissed. Game violations are under a different case number Crap! Can't think of a good meme for this!

Agreed clean the p traps. Run super hot water for awhile to clear out grease if that's what it might be. Who knows maybe you'll find that ring that your wife lost.
-
I was just thinking about buying some bear spray. For the tweekers or whoever keep breaking into my camper. I pray I catch them in the act one of these times.
-
Could they be any more vague? Animal rights group has a picture of a pelt.. that's about all I know that I didn't know before.

Anybody hungry?

Is a die off like that typical or only in bad drought years? That sucks to see. What will that mean the next few years?

Good for you! Backpacking is a great pastime. If you dont think weight matters, youve never hiked 90 miles in 6 days with all your gear on your back. I hope I never have too! I'm thinking it could be a pretty fun family thing to do together.

https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/spo/d/rei-2-person-tent-camping/6621661441.html Anyone recognize this model? It's a two p3rson for $75. 5.5 pounds.

I got the eureka solo. Less than 3 pounds for $30!
-
Sorry you have to get rid of this stuff man.

There's one for $30 used right near me. For $30 I can't see why not to pull the trigger on it.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wpMx5_IIr28&t=21s Right below that video is a great vid on maintaining these reels. Get a couple tigers for now then head this way.
-
Tigers are the cheapest and fastest to get into one. When i have my bait out i crank the drag way off so they can run with it, then if i have a good run ill try and set the hook and crank it down quick while reeling in. I think they are 15lb test which is ok to start but I'd upgrade to 30lb braid. That being said my favorite set up is a "big game" rod and an Okuma avenger. The avenger has a bait click switch where it allows the fish to run off with your bait and then you just pick it up and start reeling in. It's like a secondary drag just for your bait. IMO it is the BEST flathead reel.

Have you guys seen many wool blends that are ok with shorts?

There's an outdoor research bivy on CL right now for around 145 I think. Bivys do have their appeal in the right situation. If money was no object id go tipi but for now its gonna be tents for me.

Will bears return when spooked at water?

Make sure to pay attention to the wind and thermal currents. -
So many underestimate a well placed 243. Nice shooting! I wonder if that shot would be different exactly the same but at 200 yards. Pretty impressive to see a cow drop like that with a 243. Makes me think it was the perfect distance for proper expansion for that bullet.

Great responses. Thanks guys.

I hate no words more than buy once cry once. With 5 kids I cry all the time regardless. But still that sounds like a great pad!

Hah, that made me laugh!

I rate those as even across the board. Good boots, pack and shelter are a must. Good sleeping bags are water resistant and if they do get wet they are still warm, and the zippers dont break. I have had tents fail and your hunt is over. After you spend time in a heated shelter you will never go back to a standard tent. Just picture yourself 7 to 12 miles in and a storm is coming in as you are putting your pack on your back and by the next morning its below zero (wind chill) and 6 + inches of snow on the ground, the storm last for three days and when you come back to camp wet and tired you start a fire in your stove and the shelter heats right up to 70 degrees. You can cook on it and hang your clothes up since they will be wet, then in the morning you are dry and warm in stead of putting frozen clothes back on. Just my 2 cents. Going back through and rereading closer and doing searches... These tipis are awesome! Cimarron with the stove I think is what I would want to work up to. Amazing how light it is with a stove still!

Are you hitting on me?

For now I'm thinking Sept, October trips. High country. I saw that one has a 1.something r value. Didn't know if r ratings were on all of them.
