I'm really curious where all in the state they are supposed to be. Never heard of or seen any along the San Pedro. I know someone who killed a couple in the bootheel of NM not far from Rodeo. He says he knows there are some near Douglas. Seems pretty easy to believe. I'm planning on taking a pass on javelina this year and taking that time to go try to find some of these hogs in NM.

Man, it was indescribable. Sheer panic and jubilation at the same time. I was thrown out of a life of selfishness and worry free living into a life of discipline and sacrifice. Since she was a baby I was terrified of what the teen years would bring. I was sure she would see me as the enemy instead of the father just trying to protect his little girl. I am blessed to say that the day has never come, and my daughter and I are best buddies and have an amazing relationship. I can't believe the little lady this kid has turned into. We are so proud of her! Tonight we took her out for her 16th birthday and presented her with a ring and a tiara. Only to drive home the point that she should always value herself and never let herself be put into the position to be used by others Aurora Jean we love you to death, you are the most amazing little surprise we could have ever asked for. As stated not SO dependent, but they still need water. I was just on a hunt where several water sources were frozen. A lot of the deer activity was fairly close to the available water sources. It doesnt hurt to break the ice and help them out. That being said much of the moisture is acquired through the food they eat.

First learn how to locate deer. Get a tripod and a pair of decent 15s. Since your new I highly suggest you take a Duwane Adams glassing class. Write down tons of questions before hand and pick his brain. Spending $300 on his class will save you lots of money in the future. He is a living legend and a heck of a nice guy.

I got a tripod trail stool at rei. Super light and has done well for me. I put a treestand pad on it thatbi can also use to sit on the ground if i want.

Congrats, its awesome your wife was there to see your first archery buck! You mentioned studying for hours trying to find an advantage. I think you found it... PERSISTANCE!

Sometimes the stories written here are not for the other members as much as they are for the OP to go back and re read and re live the hunt, or for the family of the OP to read someday and get to know someone who may have passed on. I'm pretty detailed about my families hunts and even posted the essays my kids wrote so that they could come back someday and read it.
