I want to hunt feral piggies, New Mexico?
CatfishKev replied to CatfishKev's topic in Other Big Game
Most of the hogs are on 2 private ranches. Some have made it to BLM property but it is primarily a private ranch hunt. -
I will offer 200 money for it.

Hers the basic rundown.. they only offer the hunts to people staying at the lodge. Lodge is $75 per day and an additional $45 per person. Basic range manager assistance for $75 or $100 for a group. This is more diy. Or $150 per person per day to have them out with you the whole time. (Or at peast this is my understanding of it) Over all pretty affordable I would say. These are on ranches and mostly tagged hogs that have gone feral. -
Awesome! That first pic is cool with the sunlight coming in like that.

Don't know how glassable 8 is but my best advice is always glass off a tripod with the nicest pair of 12s or 15s you can afford. Glass open southeast slopes early then start glassing bedding areas (northwest slopes) about 9 to 10am then just keep glassing the shade or sit water mid day. Look up old glassing threads.

Florence A&M pizza is really good. Some of the best pizza I've had in AZ. There's subs and cheesesteaks are real good too. We stop there every year on the way up to the 23 youth hunt.

Good for you man. Duwane is a great dude. Spent the last two hunts on the kaibab with those guys and learned a whole lot. As far as pigs go check online and see if game and fish has any tags left and in what units. Down my way pigs can literally be anywhere the deer are. However they are also found in washes most typically I would say. But glass for them the same way you would for deer. If there's tags left go to the game and fish site and look up that species in that unit, should be your best bet. Good luck man and make sure to post up any pics of your hunts. Whether successful or not. -

Looks interesting. Is the hog hunting on a private ranch or does he take you out on public land. -
Right handed bows are usually for people right eye dominant. If your right handed and left eye dominant you should use a left hand bow unless you're comfortable shooting with your non dominant eye.

Geez dude don't chew on the dang things. Get a milk bone or something.

Maybe it's their diet at the time. Don't think I'd want to puncture the stomach of a cat that's been eating javelina.

Central AZ archery rut hunt - advice needed
CatfishKev replied to vegasmike's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Mike, sent you a PM. Coues are often found the top quarter of a ridge. They won't necessarily bed in the bottoms (But they could). Any northwest facing slope is essentially a bedding area. At first lite glass everywhere but start with the southeast facing slopes. As it warms up about 8ish deer will work there way to shade so start glassing towards the shady areas. Finding patches of mountain mahogany will help as well since that should be a food source in January. Make sure to dig up some old threads on glassing. -
I've only found three sheds. One elk, one Muley, one Coues. So I'm no expert however if you have a general idea of where the target animal should be during the shed period walking fence lines would be a good start. As far as the Bab sheds I think are found lower not higher for the most part. I heard the guy from Muley crazy has an ultralight that he flies around the bab and strip with and sends GPS cords. To guys on the ground. I'm curious to here others on this as it's something I've wondered about myself. Problem is it's so dang competitive now it's like a pissing contest.

Not into going in with just socks. Trying to find a better way just to slip something over my boots but for white meow... Fishin shoes from amazon some carpet scrap and some shoe goo. Downside is I now need some fishin shoes.

Depends on the terrain, I can cover more distance quicker and quieter with these though. Where they really shine though is when the ground is frozen and kind of crumbly and sounds crunchy.

They were on hand at the time.
