I've wondered this myself when it comes to top tier glass. If any place I'd imagine it an option it would be the 12s. Would you not even trust it to verify points on a backpack hunt?
-
Where do you live dude? Maybe it's your approach that's all wrong. My offer stands .
-
Dang dude. You need to take me up on my offer. I mean no disrespect but obviously what you have been doing has not worked. Come down my way for a weekend or somebody please help this guy out.
-
Yes ameristep. Easy down easy up.
-
Could be, also wonder if it's because mule deer are more nomadic. Just seems interesting to me.
-
Check out the doghouse blinds, it's a nice quick pop up version. I think I read you got a bison tag? What hunt?
-
So seriously though, do you find Muley water at sun up and sundown and not mid day?
-
At water? I'm just asking. I reqlly don't know Muley at all. Although, they are next on my hit list.

Id love too see more pics. I would love to make some! -
I've always heard for whitetail up north glass in the am and evening, from 12-2 you sit water. Do Muley not water mid day?
-
Great buck! Solid mass and great width it looks like. He's gotta be close to 100". Did you measure him yet? Congrats!
-
I wonder why the whitetail herds seem less affected then the mule deer? Any thoughts?

Paintballin is so fun. Had a tippman back in the day myself. Took mine and a bunch of kids out for my daughter's sweet 16. They had a freaking blast. -

Cool dead head, I got the same card reader and I hate it. Just ordered a card reader that hooks up to a phone or computer. I've been enjoying your posts and pics, looks pretty dang fun! Thanks for all the info you shot my way. Big spring definately looked promising and I heard a couple guys just killed off of it. We also had a 5 hour detour to Kanab for truck problems, had to change out my alternater in the napa parking lot. But i got my cams set and i have all the confidence i need for my hunt even without the cams. Between old posts, emails from members here and boots on the ground I'm sittin pretty! Good luck dude! Ps, if you go into Kanab I hear Wild Thyme has great food! -
I don't know 5bs but I know different areas of 6a are glassable. Do you know how to glass with a tripod and 15s, because that's very important? Typical deer hunting is all about glassing, but in flat units where you can't get up high to glass I'm not sure how most guys do it. I do know starting a mineral lick a good mile or so off the road is a good start in those flat units. But that is a long term investment and it's too late for you to do that now. Also sitting water holes right now is useful, be sure to check tank perimeter for buck tracks and not just does. Other than that the guys that hunt flat units can be more useful. Asking where deer are on your first post is not good on forums, people are more willing to share and help after youve been here for awhile. You would probably be better served offereing to help on someone else's hunt that has experience. Sometimes putting your hunt on the back burner and helping someone else is worth it's weight in gold for the knowledge that you gain. There are lots of great people that will help you learn but there are no freebies here. I joined here like 3ish years ago and I now have lots of numbers in my phone, plenty that helped me and plenty I've helped. Case in point, i scored a bison tag this year and because of the kind folks here i have absolute confidence im gonna fill my tag this year. Invest some time here and you will never need a guide on a hunt and you will learn a lot. If your up to the drive you can come down my way and I will take you out to show you some stuff, but I primarily hunt Coues not Muley.

Congrats, now youll have more time for trapping come winter time.
-
Sounds like you are on the right path. Read up on some threads on glassing and good luck.
-
Which marsupial did you get? I read the new version doesn't fit the swaro 15s, I assume that would be the case for the euros as well?

I thought I recognized that Bob Kyhn name right away. Duwane Adams is a hilarious story teller. One night he was telling us all a story about being on a hunt with him and Bob. They were in a restaurant and Bob started strutting and gobbling like a turkey, it was apparently a spot on impression that had the entire restaurant cracking up. Seeing Duwane do them I impersonation of Bob was freakin funny as heck.
-
Are you glassing with a tripod?
-
Yup, that's the other big one.
-
Great story and pics dude! Wearing your hat backwards like a punk to trick goats was a nice touch, don't go and start wearing flat brimmed hats on us though.
