Right now I'm shooting a 29.5" Maxima with 100 grain 1 1/8" cutting diameter slick trick on the end and lighted nock. Am I good, or should I bump it up to a 125 or consider a completely different broadhead? I think I've heard of weight inserts? Saw a video where a guy suggested a broadheads with a more streamlined point not something so blunt.
-
Fair enough. I'll check those out.
-
I don't even know what my total weight is, never felt a reason to know until now. Up until now I've only chased deer and pigs with my bow. Hence the purpose of my post. You seem to mirrror the thoughts mentioned in the video i eluded to in my original post. I'm guessing I'm at like 450ish right now. But that's with tight groups. I feel like if I can stay within 40 yards I'm good, but again at this point I'm just playing devils advocate with myself. What broadheads would you look at in my shoes?
-
I'm stubborn.
-
What's your suggestion then? That's the whole point of my post. Heavier overall, different broadhead?
-
You mean the blind or arrow? Please elaborate. Suggestions?
-
Wow! I feel way better. Now I just need to address adrenaline and not rush my shot.
-
Just to be clear. Shoulder meaning bone or the thicker meat of the front quarter?
-
Supposed to be good on the maximas. Also planning on being in a blind 50 yards tops, but trying to keep it 40 and under.
-
That makes me feel better. I really didn't wanna buy new stuff if i didn't have too.
-
Wow! How far did it penetrate?
-
I was hoping you would chime in. What did you have on your bow? I'm seriously considering where I should sit for the hunt. I know three good spots right on the border but don't wanna have to drag one out of the park. The spot you sent me looked great and another spot but those two spots could get ruined by people driving too much on the roads.

Jokes are funny. Didn't you see my Jeffery Dahmer post?

I get your point, but your splitting hairs. One time use per point stockpile if you will.
-
Dude you talk like thats not a killer buck. Bro, that is indeed a killer buck. Seriously that thing is bad butt! Congrats!
-
Of course that is the one way the point holder can actually abuse it. Valid concern i guess. Still comes nowhere close to buying a head.
-
That's why they're called loopholes. They are there for the purpose of taking advantage of. Every big money family in the US knows every one of them. No not pertaining to hunting obviously but the idea is the same. Even for those that "abuse" it how many times can they really do it? Maybe once every 12 years. And it's the others on the tag that benifit not really the pointholder. Its not like they are gonna kill a monster 2 years in a row. I have more of a problem with 1000 yard shots and technology getting better and better with the help of escouting etc.
