Codyhuntsaz aka Cody Smith has passed away
CatfishKev replied to Hunterbrett's topic in The Campfire
I'm sorry to hear about your buddy and very sorry to the family, that freaking sucks. Saw his posts but never met or talked to the guy. Prayers sent to the family -
I heard something like this awhile back I think around Williams? Wonder if it's the same story or new people / charges.
-
Awesome! Looks like the freezer is full. Congrats to you all! And that coues is a freaking stud!
-
I don't know 9 but have you been sitting water in the evenings, all day or just mornings? I'd look for water that is close to thick north facing drainages and sit those if you haven't already.

Wife's diy girls only 2024 coues hunt.

Very cool. Congrats to them gals -
I had the Cabela's 1hp it seemed like overkill honestly. I figure the .75 is the sweet spot. Lem has dual grind attachments for their #8, 12, 22 where it will do 2 grinds in one pass which is pretty cool. LEM and MEAT both have holiday deals going on right now. I don't think harbor freight makes a grinder anymore.

Looking at ease of clean up and having "enough" power. Will be mostly used for jerky and making my own lunch meat. LEMs 8.5" mighty bite would be just over $200 with the cyber week sale. Thoughts?
-
Does it bog down on you with bigger meats?
-
The cal ranch down here has craftworx ones. I think a 7.5 for $80 and an 8 or 8.5 for $109. I'm just thinking that getting something half decent for $109 seems unlikely. But I have zero experience.

Is that bad to you? Some people group like that with a rifle!

Asking where to hunt on a forum is sort of a no no. But like no tags said you are in a pretty good area overall. You need to decide if you wanna chase muleys or coues. I'd consider heading south off I-10 towards sonoita I think it's hwy 83. Take any road off the highway that goes towards the foothills and start glassing. Try to wait for one to bed and haul but above them and sneak down to them and try and get a shot off. Expect to blow it multiple times before you connect. Don't get discouraged when you blow a stalk, it's normal.

Great bull congrats! -
Good deal

Not to mention how many meals coyotes steal from the lions making them have to kill again. Since Coyote contests have been banned it's already been detrimental. I can't imagine how bad it could get it dogs were taken off the table.
-
I used to think there was no sport in it until I saw firsthand the amount of work that lion hunters put in with there dogs. It takes a lot of training and endless miles.
-
Good luck to y'all out there, keep us posted!

Congrats man!
