Best bang for your buck budget tripod is the vanguard 264ao ($149 with a decent head on it) Vultures are a good start. Keep an eye on aaoptics.com for a refurbished pair of vultures, vipers or even kaibabs. On the late hunt I think glassing is your best bet.

Good start. I was surprised on the kaibab how many people bailed after the first weekend on primo tags. Even though it's a tough hunt you have to consider the caliber of other hunters. Most guys are not hardcore, this website is the exception I think. Guys here for the most part are pretty die hard which also makes this a great place to hang out and learn. If you get out there and scout hard and hunt harder you can make it happen. Do you know how to use a tripod to glass?

I actually got a good foxpro call I'd be down for sure but I still live an hour from you. Only been out a couple times with no luck which is why I wanted to go with people more experienced. Well not exactly no luck, tried calling in pigs one time for my daughter and called a dog bit it was like a fluke. My Biggest issue these days is getting time to actually get out. Running the business and juggling the wife and our army of children keeps is overly occupied!

Are you new to hunting? A better question might be HOW to hunt that unit on the late hunt. Asking for areas to check out on a forum is kind of a no no. Driving all around the unit and getting to know it is a real good idea.

I've always felt scent free and wafers and such were worthless and always either played the wind or was in a blind. Do you think its different with yotes as far as scent goes compared to deer?

I too am inexperienced and would love to go out with someone. Although I always second guess myself and can figure it out myself most the time I'd rather go with others and shorten the learning curve.

They look to be bigger animals then I gave them credit for, its hard to gauge sizes with nothing next to them but next to you and on the wall comparing the size of the double door they look to je pretty hefty animals. Congrats man that looks absolutely amazing.
