I dont know the unit whatsoever but all the elk I've killed were on otc hunts and they weren't something I would bring an 11 year old on. If you dont mind eating the tag and just spending time with your kid that's one thing, but if you wanna kill it might be tough on the kid just my opinion.

Well it's gotten me thinking about self suffenciey. With a pool for emergency water next step is chickens. I got a totally enclosed dog run I'm gonna set up and took the family all to pick out chickens yesterday. At least we are one step closer to being better prepared. Imo a good salt site is gonna be close to bedding areas, either on a north facing slope or something with shade where they can smeek in and out and stay in a somewhat shady area undetected. You need to understand thermal currents for this. Once the sun comes up and shines on an area the current will flow uphill, once the sun goes down and it starts to cool off the current will go downhill. Plan your blinds accordingly.

Being a teacher is a calling, not a career. I originally went to college for just that, my heart was on fire for it at the time. Glad I did not go that route. I feel bad for teachers especially here in az.

My Ford buddy said he's spent around $300k as an employee mechanic which is nuts, but still teachers make way less then techs. I see your point but while your changing out a head gasket you don't have 23 annoying kids asking retarded questions and showing their weiners to the girl next to them.

One of my favorite posters! There are some posts on this I would do some searches. Being said, you will get lots of varying responses. I hate sitting all day, it's brutal especially when its hot out. If you are gonna sit water I suggest you find a spring or seep well off the beaten path and establish a mineral site right next to it and set a cam. As far as where to set a cam, there's also threads here about that. Your upside is you are young and still have the drive to hike endless miles. Get out there kid!

I'm all about putting good hinges and a gasket on one of the cheap ones. Best bang for your buck imo and don't bgg have to worry about them getting beat up and or stolen out of your truck or camp. I think the biggest factor to go cheap is the theft aspect.
