I got the portable one you can hook up to a 12v battery. We would take it to out of town jobs or in the camper for hunts. It worked pretty dang well. -

That's a reference to a box smoker when u open the door. If it's burning thin blue smoke it builds up inside because there is very little venting allowing it out which is exactly my point. That's why a box smoker has its place still. Its actually better for long smoking. -

I like my pellet grill for the right purpose but I can honestly say it does not replace the need for a box smoker. When i use the pellet grill to smoke meats generally use a pellet tube to increase smoke flavor. Ya know how on a regular smoker when you open the door it blows a billowing smoke cloud that burns your eyes till dissipates? Well pellet grills don't really do that. The fan constantly blows the smoke around but most of it gets vented out quickly hence the need for the pellet tube. I think it mostly depends what you are trying to do. I'm not getting rid of my electric masterbuilt. If you want HEAVY smoke a pellet grill doesn't quite cut it for long time smoked meats but they definitely have their place. In terms of ease of use and less hassle i think camp chef wins . -

I think with pellet smokers these days it really don't matter what you buy in terms of performance. Not to mention every one has a controller you can upgrade. I went camp chef for the pellet dump option and for the ash dump cup because I didn't want to clean the ash out with a shop vac. My personal recommendation would come down to ease of use at the end of the day. And don't forget pellet tubes are a great way to supplement smoke -
A lot of guys are jumping ship from the 15s it seems and going to the 12s. Did you have 15s before and want to go back or are you just trying something different? I'm about to replace my main binos. Had meopta 15s before but Im thinking Im gonna go with 12s instead.

I just let him do it through my insurance. Included new bedside, new hood, i think 2 front fenders are new, new taillight and he did the roof for me since it was faded bad and they threw the drivers side door in. I contributed like $600 and insurance paid about $4k.

Sounds like a deal to me!

Long Range Fixed Blade Field Point Accuracy
CatfishKev replied to Coues Archer's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Looks like you are spending considerable time on this. I was surprised slick trick wasn't included in your first round of testing. If I'm understanding this correctly the smaller the cutting diameter of the blades makes them fly better? I used rockets like 10 years ago with good results. Now using slick trick magnums. Interesting thread, I'll be following -

Not so much the size of the animal as much as expected distances on the bab. Butt a fair answer to a fair question. Id put big Rocky muleys in the cow elk category. But again, id let my daughter shoot a cow at 200 yards with a 243. In a pinch with a very confident shooter 300 tops in good conditions. Imo its not whether it will produce a kill as much as its about being able to find the animal should it run off, good hit or not.

Yeah it's super fun chasing an animal after a perfect shot a couple hundred yards. I need more of that in my life.
