I was out helping a couple of friends with bull tags this weekend. Found a headlamp and another item sitting on a rock ledge at the very edge of the rim. Guessing someone forgot them when they were done glassing. Message me with the info if they are yours and I can arrange to get them back to you.

Vasque Sundowners. Great boots. If they were a 12 I'd pick these up in a heartbeat.

22.5" Weber Smokey Mountain for me. Holds a ton of food. Most I've had on at once was 4 racks of ribs and 2 pork shoulders. Never had to baby it as long as you set the vents right and have enough coal. One bag of Kingsford blue bag started at 11 PM, put a packer brisket on, go to bed. Wake up at 6 AM and it's still reading 225* - 240* until the brisket reads 203*. Usually a 12+ hour smoke. Plus has a huge water pan to keep temps regulated and moisture contained. Did a 18# turkey and 9 turkey legs last Thursday, still had room for more. However, the pellet grills look good too. I think Camp Chef now makes one. Might be something to look at. And I definitely do agree with the Maverick thermometers. They are great. Just don't get the probes over 500*. They'll short out.

Please do. I was thinking about doing one with some elk backstrap soon. After rubbing on the mushroom/garlic/onion paste onto the backstrap, then wrap the whole thing with prosciutto. That will help keep moisture in the meat and not soaking into the puff pastry. After wrapping everything in the puff pastry, put in the fridge to cool down the meat prior to putting in the oven. Timing is crucial to not over cook the meat, while ensuring the pastry browns properly.

Anthony is a stand up guy and a very inspirational story. Great speaker and a fellow Mesa Jackrabbit.

I also put in for 37B this year, but a HAM tag mid Feb hunt. Had success there last year.

More fishing related....but when your co-angler drops a deuce in the livewell, washes her hands in the lake. Then goes into the cooler to grab a Coors. Gets me upset when she doesn't grab me one. -
HAM javelina for me

Looks pretty good. I see they make one for kettles. Might be a good addition for the WSM. As far as camp grills, it's either a small one from HD that runs on 1# propane. Or bring a cast iron grill plate from home and use over a small fire.

I picked up a Worksharp Field Sharpener and used it for the first time Friday morning on a set of Buck Paklites field dressing and quartering a cow elk. A really really good sharpener to put in your pack out in the field.

75 yards when I took the pics and started asking who I was. 50 yards when I started videoing them with my phone. I may start bringing one of those repeating firearms with me. Holy crap. I have a solo coues hunt next door in 34A next month.....makes me a bit nervous after hearing this.

When I lived there, it was always in the trunk (or locked container) with ammo separate. Looks like it's still that way according to their Justice Dept website. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/travel Transporting Firearms in California Home Firearms Transporting Firearms in California HANDGUNSPursuant to California Penal Code section 25610, a United States citizen over 18 years of age who is not prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, may transport by motor vehicle any handgun provided it is unloaded and locked in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container. Furthermore, the handgun must be carried directly to or from any motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while being carried must be contained within a locked container. Pursuant to California Penal Code section 16850, the term "locked container" means a secure container that is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment. SHOTGUNS AND RIFLESNonconcealable firearms (shotguns and rifles) are not generally covered within the provisions of California Penal Code section 25400 and therefore are not required to be transported in a locked container. However, as with any firearm, nonconcealable firearms must be unloaded while they are being transported.

Check Gunbroker.com. Northern Firearms are clearing out their X-bolts. I picked up a 6.5 Creed in Kryptec pattern for $550 new in box a couple of months ago. Tack driver for sure. However, it's not a "Long Range", but they may have some of those that they are clearing out.

I use the holster that is built into my 2200. But I'm liking the idea of a leg holster just in case I'm not wearing my pack for some reason.

I had a similar experience with my Sig rangefinder. It was a 2 week turnaround. Painless process.

Those are some great pics. Wow is right.

Which one? This one? https://www.costco.com/FoodSaver-FM5480-2-in-1-Food-Preservation-System.product.100310211.html Reason I ask, is my 6 yr old Food Saver finally died and I ended up buying this one from Costco. Wasn't a fan of it at all. Difficult to use one hand to vacuum seal and I had to press down on the clear lid in order for it to vacuum properly. Ended up returning it and getting this one from Amazon. Found it to be much better plus it has a 12V adapter and it's the same price. https://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-GameSaver-Designed-Consecutive-GM710-000/dp/B016C4KJS0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504808691&sr=8-1&keywords=foodsaver+big+game As far as your question on reheat. Yes, I froze a ton of individual servings of venison stew. Then I just boil in the bag similar to sous vide reheat. Comes out great. I use my foodsaver a few times a week for sous vide and freezing chicken, beef, pork shoulders, salmon, etc from grocery shopping. During hunting season or tuna season in CA, it's used much much more. So, having one that is reliable and easy to use without having to press on it to vacuum properly is a must for me.

I'll be near Hospital Ridge and other parts of 5A in a white 4Runner tomorrow late afternoon thru Monday. Granted it's further west of where he's at and I don't have a trailer. But if he needs a tow out of there with a tow strap, I'll be more than happy to help. PM me if you need my contact info.
