There is some great advice in this thread. I hunted it last year and passed on some great bulls and missed a really good one. If you are considering a guide I can tell you with 1000% certainty who you SHOULD NOT book with. Send me a message if you are thinking of hiring an outfitter. I'd hate for anyone to have the experience that I did as it relates to an outfitter.

I keep seeing where folks know what tag number or position they were drawn. Where is that info? And as a NR how can I determine from that info if I drew in the max point round or bonus round?

Thanks Don. That is how I assumed that it worked but wasn't sure. Our unit has 200 tags for the early archery hunt so we definitely drew in the max point pass.

5BS Sept Archery for me

Me and my buddy will be stomping around after elk in 5BS come September! Pumped!

So I either drew 5BS or 8 archery tags. I think I have it narrowed down to two outfitters but wanted to get recommendations from you guys to make sure I'm not missing someone. So if you had been putting in for 10 years and finally drew one of these tags (most likely 5BS), who would you use?

Thanks for all of the replies. Talked to Steven this afternoon. If I did draw 5BS then I'm going with Wards. Hard to argue with his past success in that unit. Now I wait and see which one I actually drew.

Steven is the other outfitter that I'm looking at. Part of me is glad to see such a good recommendation. But it makes the decision that much harder. Wasn't really trying to be cryptic in my original post. I just didn't want to lead the conversation or limit folks on their ability to give a recommendation. So has anyone here hunted with Wards or A3 in 5BS or 8?
