    The statement of a lifetime

I think you are right on the money. I also think that the quantity of hunts available during the non rut was a bunch of balogni. From what I have seen here and talking to other people, there have been a lot of bucks killed this year. I don't think that creating more tags decreased the success rate one bit overall. No matter what time of year you make a hunt, there are still going to be animals killed. Also, I think that if a person gets drawn for a hunt, they can not get drawn for that species for the next two years. What do you all think? Maybe a minimum point limit also to allow the smaller bucks to get bigger?

    Who's hunting AZ Unit 24a

I didn't get drawn, but watched a guy shoot a little 60" 2 by 3 a week ago right on the reservation line with a res. permit. After that, an 80" 3 x 3 jumped up and one that was a lot bigger than him with a couple extra points. The guy couldn't believe it when he saw them, they were all bedded down and he was just meat hunting. Good fortune for you all though and good luck too.

    Family Strengths

I am new to this forum too, but I work as a forest landscaper during the spring and winter months. I also carry around a 40 to 50 pound pack trying to chase wildland fires around the country for about six months out of the year for the forest service. Great way to see new places and lots of wildlife.
  6. I found two sets of sheds from the same deer. One set is from 2 years ago, about an 80" buck then, and this years sheds, probably pushing 105-110" buck. I also found single sheds from other deer in the area. Does anyone have suggestions on how to hunt this bad boy. He is in primarily pine trees with a mixture of oak and juniper.
  7. I was wondering if anyone new a good place to apply for an archery bull hunt in Utah for next year? I can't get drawn here in AZ so I may as well try somewhere else I guess. It has been 11 years since I was drawn and that was a cow tag, so I have never been able to get a bull. I get drawn for deer about every third year, which is fine since I can take a bow out still. But, I would appreciate any recommendations.

    Utah elk?

There is a few hogs in 23 that I have been trying to get a tag for and then I apply for 5's, and 6's. I might have to give that up though to find a tag. Thanks for the tip.

    Weekend out (pics)

Those are some great pics. A couple of my friends have gotten a couple of bulls this year there. One 330 and one 350. There is a lot of big everything in 27. I love that unit a lot.

Finding a deer from found sheds

Thanks for answering me back. I am going to have to get a trail camera and I didn't know you could put salt out. Sorry it took so long to answer, I've been away for a while. Someone shot at him while I was closing the distance last year on my rifle hunt. I think they saw me getting closer and took a pop shot at him to hopefully get him or scare him off from me so that I wouldn't.

    Utah elk?

Thanks for answering. Maybe I'll try an over the OTC tag, I would just like to go and have a chance instead of taking other people out for once and just watching, which is fun for a while.

    Scouting 24A

I don't know how long you have hunted 24A for, but I have hunted it all of my life and have been really impressed with the size of some Coues' all over the unit. I have seen some pretty decent bucks where I never would have expected them to be. Good luck on your hunt.

    Monster Muley from Nev.

I think that this is an awesome buck. I still have yet to get a really good muley with a bow or rifle and would never in my life pass a chance like that. To me, a 150" muley would be really great right now since I have never got one. I just love chasing coues around too much.
