That's awesome. Even though I like whitetails, some day I hope to get a nice muley like that for sure. Lord knows I've been trying.

    My 2011 Archery Bull

It was a Tru Fire release. It was supposed to have a locknut on it that held it together. Well the locknut didn't work and that's when it decided to finally come apart. Just goes to show that you should check all your equipment regularly, not just what you are shooting (Gun or Bow).

    My 2011 Archery Bull

Yeah. I took it to Millers there at Clints Wells just to let it hang since we do our own meet cutting, and they said it was the heaviest elk they had this year at the time and the second heaviest ever from around there. It's four quarters alone weighed 490 pounds.
  6. On my way home today from work I happened to glance in the right little draw today and found a nice buck off the side of the road. I wish I had my camera, but at about 60 yards looking at him with bino's I'd put him at about a 90 inch buck. He almost had all of the velvet rubbed off as well. He was a big three on his right side and a four on the left with a little bit shorter points. His eye guards were really long though, probably a good 6 to eight inches long. The left eye guard was also split. Had really dark antlers with velvet hanging off the tips on the four side and around the bases. Wish I could have seen him during the archery hunt. Only three more weeks till my rifle hunt. Can't wait. If I don't get one then, I'll be back looking for him in december with my bow beings that my hunt is in a different unit.

    2010 High Country Archery Deer

Congrats on your hunt. CO is some nice looking country. One of these days I hope that I can go back and try it again.
  8. I agree. If my hunt wasn't way out away from everything I would definitely be taking my little three year old girl with me this year. Her momma would kill me if I tried probably. I do take her out dove and quail hunting and occasionally on a deer or elk looking journey and she loves it. Good luck and I wish you the best.

    Coues footage

Thats surely some nice footage in my opinion and could never get bored with it. Just makes me want to go even more. Hope I can find one at least at the 100 inch mark. Might be a little tough though. Can't wait.

    CO Bull

Congrats on a nice bull. It's been a long time since I've hunted Colorado. Am thinking about it for next year if the draw fails me here again.
  12. Went to the valley today to look at some stuff with my little three year old daughter. Before we left i decided to buy her a little toy gun that she could carry along with us when we go out dove hunting together. Still had about forty five minutes of shooting light left as I was driving through Queen Valley and decided to pull over on a dirt road and get out to shoot some doves if they were flying. Well it was a good decision because I ended up with six in that short amount of time. Just wish I had my camera with me to take some pics with my daughter. She had a blast pretending that she was shooting the doves and telling me where they were flying.

my first deer with a bow

That's cool. Congrats on finally getting one with your bow. You should be proud of it because anything you take is a trophy in some way shape or form. At least in my mind they all are. Now you just have to wait until January again.

    6A Early October Rifle Bull

There are elk all over the southern part of the unit and unless there is some weird occurrence, the elk will be bugling and rutting at that time.

    Got My Goat

Very nice. I can't wait to get speed goat tag. Especially one with a bow, and I'd take one a lot smaller than that one. Congrats again.

a few in my elk unit

Very nice. I've never taken a mulie with my bow yet, and I believe I would take a shot at almost all of them if given the chance. Good luck.

    So whos getting Buck fever?

I haven't been drawn for a whitetail tag since 2005, since then I have only been drawn for one mule deer hunt which I didn't have good success on that since I didn't see any real nice bucks during the hunt and I didn't want to shoot a little one knowing that I could try to chase WT with my bow later. So my buck fever is 5 years worth.

    Pinal Fire??

That's correct. It was used as a resource benefit fire to clean up all of the heavy fuels on the ground that could cause a catastrophic fire up there. It was a good thing for that part and really good that it rained on it off and on to keep it from completely burning out all the trees in there. About 500-600 acres I think.

    AZ Taxidermists?

I agree. You should also tell the taxidermist how you want the eyes to look for yourself as well as ear positioning, etc. Many people do not let a taxidermist know what they want, so the taxidermist will set it to how they like the animal to look. Be specific in what you tell them. Eyes wide open and fully alert, or a lazy look to them like they are half asleep. One ear forward and the other back, both back, both forward, at sides, you can go on and on and on. Know what you want, and make sure they know it too. It's your money and investment.
