That is a simply fantastic job on taking that deer. Ive spent this entire season chasing mulies with the oak self bow i made (15 yard range) and had quite a few very close encounters but i was never able to seal the deal. Seeing your achievement inspires me to keep at it in the hard times when the compound is so easy to pick back up.

From my limited experience in front of an animal, I will say that practicing in diverse situations can be of great help. Things such as shooting with you feet angled up or down such as standing on a hillside will add to practice, as well as shooting from your knees and at in-between yardages. Another idea is that running around before you shoot will simulate that rush of adrenaline. Personally, I tend to blame myself for any type of error in my shot, but making practice more difficult has helped counteract some human errors.

Great job on a beautiful buck!

That is certainly an excellent feat! I've gotten into primitive archery recently and seeing this greatly inspires me to finish making some bows!

Great advice guys, I went out this weekend and we only were able to make one stalk on a muley, but a little swirl of wind messed things up. I look forward to heading south in new country! I will do what you guys said and try to use trails instead of water.

Hey all this is my first year seriously bowhunting deer although I've been in the outdoors hunting for my entire life. Having spent hours on google earth I've located tons of good tanks, but only had time to scout a different area which only revealed a couple does coming by in a week. My bow is fairly quiet and I'm willing to sit all day on a trail or water; or try a spot and stalk. Which would be more productive for a relatively unseasoned person to do? Is there anything else that I'm missing? Any tips for my first coues hunt? Thank you

ethics; Im in southern Phoenix but I'd be happy to see some new country! oneshot; thats an excellent point you make about the water, but what if they use several different trails to approach the tank? Would it then be best to wait on the water, or just take the chances on one of the trails?

I appreciate all of the advice thank you guys. Anything that I am able to take with a bow I consider a trophy, and I look forward to the next opportunity!
