My 16 year old son 27 archery bull!! This is his first ever elk!!

Majority of people hunt early in August because they are meat hunters which is good for them, but the other people hunt early because its easy to pattern a buck this time of the year!!! In January it's little different hunting more spot and stock cuz the rutt, sitting in a tree or a blind sucks in the cold just speaking for my past experience!!i would much rather kill a hard horn buck than a velvet one its awesome to se a big o velvet buck grow all his inches!! That's why I just hunt in dec and jan!!

I'm with Jim forget waiting!!! Last year the archery hunt kicked *ss then went on the early rifle hunt both in 27 and it sucked the bulls would quit bugling very early in the morning and not call till right at dawn my buddy was so frustrated he wanted to go home he ended up killing one but not what he thought he was gonna get! Just saying there is nothing wrong with any archery hunt, shoot I think it's easier to kill a big bull early during the archery hunt less eyes you have looking at you!!!

27 opens today upper eagle creek and4 bar pretty good.

Yea spot and stock I just cut him off coming up a ridge he was on a trail looking for a doe so he was a little rutty! It worked out pretty good cuz wind was good and he had his head down most of the time came right up to me.

Glassed him up first 10 min of light I stay on the binos and walked em in. the buck went in a little draw so we couldn't see him so they rimmed around till they found him it was only a 50 yard shot worked out pretty good Cameron smoked him! I Wish i had a long shot story but that was it!! The pack out was fun he wanted to take him whole pigeon is no small canyon LOL. I scored it 106 it would have scored higher if it had the other eyegaurd nice buck man!!, But another toad came out of there Jerry Bishop daughter shot a Monster i 'm guessing 120 if not bigger can't wait till he posts his pics!!!
