yeah I could probably do that. I'm not a machinist by any stretch of the imagination but it flat out works and it's a lot better than paying $500 for one. I'm going to be a few weeks but i'll let you know how the new bracket turns out compared to my current redneck garage-fabbed version i've been using. I have a buddy with some better equipment so the new bracket should look a lot cleaner and i can trim a few ounces off too. Mine should be around 6.75 lbs for the whole setup with the spotters.

I was gonna build one for me and a couple more extras just to use up the material I bought

I have no IPD issues with my kowas. I have a friend who is basically a cyclops and he's used them. As for collimation issues, mine rarely get bumped off alignment and if they do it takes me about 45 seconds to get them back to where they need to be. My next bracket design should completely eliminate this issue anyway as i improve the tolerances on my objective saddles. I prefer the 2 spotting scope setup simply because I already had one spotter so getting another and making a bracket was pretty low cost compared to getting a btx. I was able to glass side by side with a set of highlanders a couple weeks ago on a hunt and, while the 32x82 highlanders are of course a little better with color and very slightly brighter, the twin 66s hung in there surprisingly well. In fact my buddy who owns the highlanders is considering going with the twin spotters since they're actually packable. I do wish kowa made a wide angle zoom eyepiece for the 66. If i want to get a closer look or take phoneskope video at a distance i usually pop in a variable 20-60x eyepiece that i pack with me but the FOV on that eyepiece is way too small to effectively glass with full time.

Purchased new in November 2015 and they haven’t seen much action. Selling for a buddy. I use this exact model and in my opinion these are the best do all bino for western hunting. Glass is immaculate, only blemish is the usual slight anodizing wear on hinges from taking out of bino harness. Comes with everything pictured. I can transfer warranty to buyer. $2050 tyd PayPal F/F or add 3%. If you want more pics pm me your number and I’ll send all you want.

There has only been one iteration of the EL 12s as far as the optics, these have the swarovision field flatteners same as the current field pro model. I guess you could say they are about as “hd” as it gets. No outdoorsman stud on this set.

This is very good advice. Or just buy my ELs on here 😁I promise you won’t regret buying either of them

That looks like an STM, hard to find and lighter than the sts. Plus the better eyepiece That’s a sweet scope.

i wish the 554 had an interchangeable eyepiece. What makes the twin 664s so good is the wide angle 30x eyepiece view. The apparent field of view is so big i almost feel a little tunnel vision when i switch back to glassing with my ELs. I think two 884s with that 25-60 wide angle eyepiece would be sweet, somebody with more money than me should try it and report back.

Made in 2017. Great condition, comes with everything as if you purchased new except I can’t find lens caps. Always kept in harness, I just don’t use them enough to keep. Never registered. $1375 tyd insured.

Do it they are awesome. I made my own bracket and have used them for about a year. I love them. The 30x Kowa eyepiece is amazing. I have glassed side by side with highlanders and while the highlanders have better color, the twin 66s hang with them surprisingly well and I can actually pack them with me. I’m going to be making a couple more brackets for some buddies if you have trouble finding one let me know.

i've had deer just stand there and watch me walk past at 10-20 yds in the dark with a headlight on. I kind of think they don't really see light like we do. Ever spot lighted a deer and he never knew you were there until you made some noise?

Damm kev that’s a good deal. Some sweet coues glass there

No problem buying used Swarovski, I just make sure the seller is willing to transfer the warranty before I send money. No big deal. Much better than overpaying for Chinese optics just because they’ll replace your crap no questions asked.

i have a hard time believing it's much better than my manfrotto 701rc2 that i got on ebay for $60. outdoorsmans may be a 5 or 6 oz lighter but that manfrotto is such a great head for big glass.

I’m just curious what big glass did you switch to and how does it compare to these highlanders?

Packing in the big glass ever a bad idea??
Hatchet Jack posted a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
this past year i bought a couple kowa 664s and made them into some 30x66 big eyes, they weigh 7 lbs. They are phenomenal and it obviously really extends my effective glassing range while scouting in big country, but i've never used them to find animals i'm looking to shoot that particular trip. I'm going to backpacking in 3-4 miles and staying the duration of my Nov 8th coues hunt, and i'm planning on hauling the kowas around to go with my 12x50 ELs. i'm wondering if anybody has ever lugged around the extra weight of the big optics and found it was a waste of energy. Also, do you guys find the high powered binos/btx to be more effective than 12/15x at finding bedded bucks midday? I was thinking they may be nice to do really detailed glassing into the shadows at closer range. -

Yeah I think you guys are right I’ll regret if I dont take them. I looked through the btx on a 65 and it was really dim to me. I’ve really enjoyed the kowas and I’m hoping they’ll be handy for glassing bedding areas at that 1200-1800 yd range. -

I just feel a little under powered even when I had 15s and was trying to find bedded deer or deer in heavy cover if it was anything over 1200 yds. And I can’t do the one eye glassing. I shoulda mentioned I have a buddy coming and we’re only packing one gun and the other can pack the kowas if I decide to take them. The 2 bucks I’m targeting hang in pockets on either side of the canyon so I’m trying to get to points I can see it all but it requires me to start a little farther back then move in once I find them. I’ll probably pack them then at the very least I got some good exercise 😁 -
Most recommended economical binos for glassing?
