That's a bad feeling. I hit a really good non typical buck this year and couldn't find him. found blood and everything, zig zagged that side hill and the bottom 4 times. it was just thick and I was by myself. I even went back the next weekend and looked for crows and hiked the canyon again but didn't see anything.

Thanks for the input guys. My last late elk hunt was in Wyo a few years back. I believe it got to -13 one day, plus that wind. Killed one about a mile and half from the road in about 18 inches of crusted snow. that pack out sucked. I imagine this will be much worse if i'm lucky. that's half the fun right?
