Oops Not sure it's an oops because it seems like most people are angry over the allocation of existing tags to be auctioned or raffled off to raise this money. It seems as this should eliminate that problem. At least it's something else on the table to look at. -

As I understood it, there are two pools of money at hand. Pool 1 would be generated by the auction/raffle tags tags or ??? and GnF would receive 100% of that and it should be earmarked for education. As stated before, G&F has to follow guidelines as to what they can put out on billboards and the like. It would be interesting to see how restrictive these guidelines are because it's going to be hard to "educate" people with your hands tied when you are really trying to fight a group with very deep pockets that can and will say anything to further their agenda. Pool 2 would be used/controlled by C&P and could be used for political activities. Unless I missed it, the funding for this pool was only mentioned briefly in a response to a question asked by an attendee and it sounded like it would consist of primarily donations. I would like to know what if anything the donors are asking for or have been offered by C&P? Personally I'm leaning toward the dollar or two added to licenses and then maybe another dollar to application or tag fees as a way to fund the "education" portion. I would also like to hear more from G&F regarding the necessity of this funding. Do they feel they need to generate 2M annually? I know it's being treated as "preventative maintenance" at this point and I think it's an issue that should be addressed, and soon. -

I probably missed it in the 26 previous pages so forgive me, do you have to be a member to attend the ADA meeting tonight? -
Awesome kitty! Most phones will take a picture whey you say Cheese or Smile when the camera is on... Much easier than a timer.

The website she sent wasnt valid it was somethng else, im In the hospitality business and customer service is number 1 and doesnt matter if is the first or the 100th person to call we always treat them like the first, maybe in New Mexico is different, like I said before there are ways to answer and if you treat people nice they go a long way.Like I said is a new hunt and no word about it in their website otherwise I wouldnt have called. A big difference, as I see it, in the hospitality business, the customer calling can take their business elsewhere if you don't answer the phone or are rude. Kiss the customer's butt is probably close to #1 in the job duties. Not the case when dealing with GnF. Having said that, while I have never contacted the northern office before, everyone I have ever dealt with was very helpful and polite. Even when dealing with issues such as last years messed up draw which generated a LOT of phone calls. Even spent over an hour on the phone with one manager talking about lions in detail. To put it in perspective, if all the MVD employees traded places with GnF employees......... Just sayin.

For anyone following the questions and drama surrounding the flush, it has begun and the lake is now dropping.

So the world is not ending? This topic was misleading. Maybe harness all the tears for the fish and refill the lake? Who said the world was ending? How is "Alamo is dropping" or anything in the OP misleading?? I would say people familiar with the lake and multiple agencies going to court to try to file injunctions to stop or delay the flush would qualify as drama. I was trying to bring a little perspective to the post. We live in a frickin desert! We bank water for later use. Fish are a bonus added as a biproduct of having that reserve. If the parties responsible for these waters (that we have allowed to take possesion by either our action or inaction) make adjustments for whatever reason, the bass spawn is not going to be as big a concern as the maintaining of the resevoir. Unfortunate timing maybe but certainly not the major event this is being out to be. Do you work for FOX News by chance? Will we have a generation of bass that are "entitled" to certain water levels? Wow. Make inaccurate comments and then spew your thoughts without answering either of the two questions I asked. And since you want to go there, much like the other news network does. Are you related to Anderson Cooper? Fact: When I started the thread, the lake was dropping. Plain and simple. I made ABSOLUTELY no comment on the logistics or rationale of the flush. The ACOE put out a lengthy paper on the reasons why they are performing the flush now.

Basically a bunch of dam maintenance. Flushing out silt and lowering the water level so the divers can inspect some stuff that hasn't been looked at for many years. As to how low will it go? They initially wanted to lower it about 35' but the more recent target stated was 1100' which would be around 10'. But we'll just have to see where it actually stops.

You may want to state which type of hunt you are looking for. Do you want to get out and hunt or just kill a deer? A buddy just did one and regretted it and said he will never go back. He shot his deer less than a minute after the feeder went off. Total time on the ranch was less than an hour.

After buying a special deal bow on line on Jan 19th, I received an email stating that the item was then back ordered. However I just tracked it and it shows my order was cancelled and my bank statement shows a pending reversal of the charges. I still have not been notified by them about a cancellation. Guess we will wait and see but really is annoying to order an item, get the order confirmation, get charged and then have it all fall apart.. Rant complete..

I feel your pain.. Silly little slip while carrying my piggie off the mountain a few years ago resulted in the right half of the picture.. (Not to mention a rescue by friends since I was out hunting alone. You find out who your friends are, that's for sure) -
Cabela's screwed up again... (Or so it seems)

This was the deal.. Don't need it but for the 174.00 shipped to the house, figured why not? A spare bow for back up insurance, or fishing, or a gift. -

I got my butt kicked by them for 4+ days in 44A. It's a known herd and they were definitely around. Every morning fresh sign in all the right places but could not glass them up to save my life. Couldn't find them bedded either. Had to resort to jumping into the thick nasty stuff on the flats and found some at dusk. Last year was bad due to the storms, flooding and hail but this year was the longest it's ever taken me to put eyes on them. Kind of strange though as it seemed like everyone else was glassing them up in the usual spots. Reminded me of why it's called hunting...

Exactly what I was thinking! Just 1 step closer to drawing for archery tags.. While it looks like they are currently legal, I suspect, and hope, they will change the wording in the regs to make this a no-no..

Rangefinder warranties tend to be weak. Does any manufacturer "get it done"? I had a Redfield Raider 550 a few years back. It was ranging properly but not where the + was aimed. Talked to them about it, sent it in and they promptly sent me a brand new model. I seem to remember it was another company that had bought them out so I was very happy they replaced it.

Just thinking.... I know you can't use them during an open season but after hearing about all the lost animals, a drone would be a great way to cover a LOT of ground to try to locate lost animals. Especially elk. It would be nice if GnF could license/permit some people to do just that. And believe me, asking for more licensing and regulations of any kind is NOT what I hope for but in this case, as in search and rescue instances, it just makes sense imo.

In 7W yesterday, they were screaming all day. Even had a big herd with a nice 5x7 hit the pasture at 5:30 in the evening as opposed to 5 mins before dark. I was thinking anyone with a tag for today was golden.

I was wondering what the odds are that a bear that was seen multiple times in the same location during the later part of the archery deer season will still be in the same general area two weeks from now. (About 5 weeks apart) Unit is 23S and the area was littered with acorns then. Not sure if they will all be gone by then if that matters. Thank you in advance.

Thanks, I really want to get him within range again.. I'm using a bow and no dogs so could get interesting.
