Hellsgate and try to find one that isn't all busted up.
-
If you dont have a good clean shot, please don't shoot. If an elk is able to go 3 miles, you aren't going to find him. Kind of makes me chuckle that you think you could chase one for 3 miles in the first place.. If it's your first big game hunt, an elk in 22 is a great way to pop your cherry...

Seen some big bulls down in there. Does it go into 22 and/ or 22S as well? I've only been in it while in 23. And yes, it's appropriately named and suggest the OP stay out unless going with several well equipped and experienced hunters.

The bad news is you drew a tag in a unit that can be pretty darn rough. The awesome news is you drew a freaking elk tag! Follow the advice given above and you will be on your way to a fun hunt. And besides, the more scars, sweat, dented vehicles and work involved all make for a better story to tell in the years ahead when you don't draw a tag. As for the joke..... Well, sorry, we can't give away all of our secrets.. And besides, the punchline has yet to be told.
-
And the even better news is, the power lines run through 22S too! I see a 400" bull headed your way.

I just checked my portal under applications and it shows my individual points for elk as 0. (applied by myself) All previous years apps show the BP's... My goat app that was with three people shows the updated points. The portal in my bonus point tab shows the points I had going into the draw but my application details shows 1 extra point as though I wasn't drawn which makes sense. The system could be updating and I caught it mid-stream??? Got drawn and just not yet hit? Anyone else show 0 points that has not had their CC hit?

Rats! I was getting excited.
-
Since I don't have an elk tag, as usual, just passing the time wishing and dreaming... I don't know what he scored as we never saw him after opening day.
-
I am guessing 325. I used him because he would make me think hard about shooting even in a trophy area. He's super pretty, nice and wide, has decent 4's but that's about it. No fronts and short mains... Still a neat bull.

I have had a lion tag in my pack for the last 8 years and never even tried to fill it. With all the closures now in most of the areas I hunt, and having to check the hotline all the time, I think 2019 will be the last time I buy one. Curious how many others will stop buying a tag for that extremely rare chance of stumbling across and killing one.

Well crap! That changes things. I guess I should have read the regs. Thank you for pointing that out. Lion tag, shovel and cheap lap dances. Good to know where all these things are when needed because you just never know.....

Rage 2 blade chisel mechanical- what happened?
Ohthatguy replied to Jnj13's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
No deer left in there anyhow and only 1 pig left. If they are 100g muzzys, I'll gladly trade! -
No clue about the allergies but curious if it was one of the lakes that has high mercury levels and warn against eating the fish. I think it's funny that they have a DO NOT EAT THE FISH sign posted at the fish cleaning station.

Rage 2 blade chisel mechanical- what happened?
Ohthatguy replied to Jnj13's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Shot this 3 blade Swhacker into a pig at 20 yards and it never opened. For the record, a pig is the only thing I will shoot a mechanical into, everything else gets a fixed blade. -
We had to help a couple lovely ladies out of this whoopsies on Saturday. 🙄 Doesn't take much to get stuck.

Pigs were out this afternoon on the northern end. Snowed on and off and after sunset it was a whiteout. Lots of people and about 8" on Dugas.

How come this stuff never makes news in AZ???

https://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/investigations/experts-glendale-officer-who-tased-man-11-times-could-not-have-seen-alleged-turn-signal-violation Just a follow up report with video that seems to prove that the officer lied about the initial reason for the stop as he could not have seen what he said he saw.. -

Agree with the 1st nine words of your 1st sentence and that's it... I'm as polite as can be, even when repeatedly being stopped by cops that lie about the reasons they stop you. So annoyed that I thought of ways to record a live view of the travel lane, dash board, speed and maybe even some OBD stuff, dump the last 10 mins of video and data off site on demand for just this reason. Then when the trooper says, you forgot to signal your lane change, you can politely say, "Officer, I believe you are wrong and we can certainly check the video if you would like to discuss it further." This guy was not providing his ID, which he is not required to do. If you simply believe that the cop "could have done some things better", and you don't blame him for doing all that so he can make sure he went home that day, we are in very different camps. -
Agreed. But it's scary as heck that in this goofy new world of whacko people like AOC, that it's even a possibility.

I couldn't kill a deer so I either want my money back or someone owes me half of theirs... I like it!! Hopefully I will find more deer this year. I mean now that I can sleep in late, hike up next to someone else on a hill and start glassing. Lessens the odds of you owing me some deer. I like it!! What about this? I will not even buy a tag, stay at home all hunting season and not bother you on the hill and I'll settle for 1/4th of your deer. You get to keep 3/4 of your deer this way. It's a win win. I like it!! Urghhhhh

If that tree is 60' tall, yes. If it's 6' tall, not so much. Shoot it and find out.
-
So it sounds like it's no big deal to climb up on a hill next to another hunter and start glassing as long as you look the other direction.
