I think Ray Anderson's ego is the real problem. He didn't like Graham because he wasn't his hire. He had better hire a miracle worker or he'll look really bad. Enjoyed being at Graham's last game tho!!! Agree with what Flatlander said about the firing.

Wow! Great buck

Congrats- Well done! Hoping my grandsons get a youth tag next year. Nothing like taking kids hunting and fishing.

Love the increase in youth hunts. My 2 grandsons haven't drawn a youth elk tag in 3 years. Hopefully this will be their year.

Just shows that you don't have to shoot a trophy animal to have an awesome experience. Congratulations.

BIG RELIEF. Way to go!

Wow! That's not a starter buck. Congratulations

The challenge and excitement is when you call in a bird. Shooting one is secondary.

Congrats on a nice buck and a great shot!!

referencing bobbyhp- quote didn't come through. Life gets in the way of doing things the way you would like sometimes. That doesn't mean you don't deserve a tag!!

So if you are considerate of your family and want to arrange your hunt around them you shouldn't hunt?

Time for a new tuck Diesel or Gas
tomharveyb replied to AZBUCKEYE's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
My 6.0 l Ford psd is closing in on 250k miles. Still running great. Hasn't been in the shop for anything inn the last 14 months. It is supposedly the worst diesel engine of all time, with the Cummins the best of all time...hmmm. That being said, my next truck will be a gasser. 6.4 hemi, 2500 Ram. Good value, less to maintain, only give up a little bit on the towing end of things. My heaviest tow is my 6500# travel trailer. Just my 2 cents worth. -
Hey everybody- lucky enough to draw a muzzy tag this year. Scouted several trips, saw a few but nothing to get excited about. Went up early last week and spent the last few days before season opener trying to locate some animals. Bottom line-Garland Prairie which was an easy hunt 13 years ago with lots of animals, seems to have very few antelope on it. 2 does seen, lots of hiking and glassing. Have tried looking around Drake and Putney Flat as well in my scouting. Came back to the valley to take care of a few things and am going back up Mon-end of season . Has anybody hunted this hunt recently that can give some insight on what to try? Game and Fish guy said there were not many lopes on GP last year either. Thanks. I'm thinking they must be in the trees, but don't know where to begin-needle in haystack. Unit 8 is BIG.

Sort of what we have in our HOW line. See a violation, call it in. Eyes and ears all over the place.

I just finished a hunt in unit 8. I got my travel maps, made sure my camp was on an "approved" road for camping, hiked in on a road for a mile to get into a spot because the road wasn't on the map. In the process of trying to comply with everything, it became clear that I was pretty much alone. Side by sides and quads used any road they felt like using, and there were camps everywhere- where they were supposedly illegal. By Dogtown Lake alone there must have 100 camps on roads that were shown on the map to be closed to camping. What's the deal? Is there anybody enforcing this stuff, or is this more worthless Governmental regulation that doesn't mean anything? I noticed the same thing last spring in 5a while turkey hunting.

So after 7 days of hard hunting, I finally connected. I was up at 4 and out at daylight each day, hunting in the trees , with no luck finding lopes at all. On day 7 I went out to Putney Flat and glassed up 13 about 2 miles out and 3 more about 3/4 mi. away with a good buck. I spent the next 4 hours trying to get in muzzy range, which for me meant 200yds. or less. Finally went back to the truck when the buck and 2 does randomly took off and ran aboout a mile. On my way back to camp, I decided to check a small park area and there he was by himself. Not a big one, but decent enough for me at that point. An easy stalk, and a 200 yd shot and my hunt was over. At 68 with bad knees, it will be my last antelope in Az., unless I'm the luckiest man on earth and draw again- very unlikely! All in all, a good hunt, but not easy by any means. I hunt for the enjoyment of being out there, and the change from the city life. Mission accomplished.
