Loose primer pockets
bowhunter-tw replied to bowhunter-tw's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Pressed a fed primer into a case, went in with expected amount of tension vs the win primers. Maybe the brass isnt over pressured its the primer size -

I just measured random pieces of once fired brass from low end loads to the upper end, factory once fired, and factory loaded ammo. All the once fired brass measures within .0002”-.0003” of each other at both the belt and in front of the belt. But from the factory new ammo vs any once fired the case right before the belt has grown .005” no matter the load? -
If it does just need a turbo, kc turbos are sweet. Im running one in my 7.3, just a little over sized than stock, made a huge difference.

All the brass I have is once fired, but not in my chamber. When you say at the belt do you mean the diameter of the belt or diameter right above the belt where the case meets the belt? -

Ive got some norma brass I can use. Should I seat the bullets a little deeper? Im seating them a little long of the cannelure (about .010-.015 short of it) I was going to back off a grain an see how that looked -

I’ll give that a try. These were win primers I loaded this morning. Ive got some feds to try later. Are win primers known to be undersized or at the smaller end of the allowable tolerance? -

I have not, that looks like a gauge though rather than a swaging tool -

Where do you get an oversized pin? Ive got a lee bench primer, and an older lee hand primer I could designate to primer crimping. but even if I fix these should I back off on load if this is an indication of pressure? Im getting 3120fps out of a 24” barrel, which is a bit faster than the book estimates, that might also be an indication pressure is spiking in my particular chamber? -
Updated; I always forget to post location.

Ive got a howa 223 with too thin of a profile to thread. Considering rebarreling with a prefit. Looking for someone who might have the equipment to help me -

Thats what I thought too, max load in the book is 65gr, wouldnt figure .3gr over is really pushing it that much? Two different Headstamps “W-W Super” ”R P” was going to sort out the RP brass and is use it first. Both have looser pockets after second firing. They dont fall out and cannot be pushed in my finger though -

This would be second firing if you count factory loading. I was loading 65.3gr of 7828ssc behind an 162gr hornady interlock -
Sounds good
