Shot this guy a few days ago. 60 yard shot and he went down about 100 yards later. I think he was a 4pt but it appears he liked to get into fights with bucks in the higher weight class. I got him near the border and for me, any deer with a bow is a trophy!

Hello, I'm currently in the market for a new rifle in a 300wsm and looking for imput. I think I've narrowed the search down to the T/C Icon Weather Shield vs. the Savage Weaher Warrior. Most of my hunting consists of coues, muleys, and elk. I'm looking for a rifle that is accurate and reliable out of the box. I'm not looking to buy a gun and then spend more money modifing it. I want to spend less the $1000. I've narrowed my search to these two rifles based upon internet reviews and discussions with people I known. But, before I " pull the trigger" I'm looking for anyone with information on these rifles or any others they would recommend. Any help will be appriciated. thank you

The October hunt for 35A can be tough if you are looking for big deer. The Huachuca mts have a lot of deer but also a lot of people. Don't be afraid to hunt the Canelo Hills. Walk along the AZ trail and you should see some deer. Good Luck

After two days of snow in unit 35A last week, I was able to harvest my first whitetail. I've always been a mule deer guy but I think I could get used to hunting these little guys. He's not the biggest but he will be something to strive for next year....hopefully i'm able to attach the photos

Thanks for all the positive responses. I hunted for about 5 total days and didn't see a lot of deer (I'm used to CO mule deer hunting) but I did see a number of bucks and two bigger then this guy prior to the hunt, but I think they went to Mexico for the holidays. I just have one question. I thought the dec. hunt was a rut hunt and never even saw a buck and doe on the same ridge together. Is the good weather and the length of the hunt the reason why these late hunts are in such demand?

I'm new to this site and just moved back to southern az and was lucky enough to draw the late 35a whitetail tag. This will be my first whitetail hunt (always been more of a muley guy but willing to change). I've started doing some scouting and research but wanted to know if anyone out there had any suggestions. I plan on hiking in as far from the roads as possible but wanted to know if there were any canyons or "general areas" I should take a look at. Thanks for your help.
