Have you looked at the Chevy Colorado with the Duramax Deisel....in particular the ZR2 that will be out in about 2 months? The I4 Duramax has been clocking about 30 mpg. It will have a factory lift, selectable lockers front and rear, wider track width and some other nice features. I am not a Chevy guy, but this truck will have me seriously reconsidering that. I currently drive a Dodge Power Wagon as my weekend vehicle and really like it.

Looking for input on a scope for a lightweight 7 mm-08 AI
Cell4soul replied to 300RUM's topic in Long Range Shooting
+1 on this. I really like my Leuopold VX-6. May be using it on my lightweight build I can't afford a new scope when the rifle is done. I was also thinking about the Vortex Razor HD LH 3x15-42 or the Zeiss Conquest HD5 with same magnification.....never mind, just re-read your post, you are looking for a scope with MIL not MOA. Cabelas recently had the VX-6 for about $750....pretty dang good deal. -
What's Your Fitness Focus? 2017 Day One - Let's Make This Hunting Year Fitter than Last
Cell4soul replied to Healy Arms's topic in Hunting Fitness
Tagging in. I have to get back at it. I was working out pretty hard for the 2 months leading up to my October hunt in Wyoming and it definitely helped. I haven't worked out since. My workouts consisted of swimming 1.5 miles two days of the week and 30 minutes of elliptical stairs with a 35lb pack followed by either upper body or lower body weight lifting three days per week. I dropped 20 lbs before my hunt and I have probably gained half of that back. Time to hold myself accountable again. -
Heck of a deal there. This should sell fast. If I wasn't in the process of a rifle build I would snatch it up.

I went to Sportsmans Warehouse today to pick up some .224 bullets to reload for my dad's .225 Winchester. They just so happened to have all of the reloading supplies I plan to use for this build. I picked up 8lbs of Hodgdon H4831SC, 3 boxes of 162 ELDX and 2 boxes of Norma 7 mm SAUM brass.

Thanks for the info, I will check them out.

Load Development Help
Cell4soul replied to trophymaster's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It looks by one of your posts that you already checked torque on the action screws. If you haven't, I would definitely do that. Is the stock free floated and bedded? I couldn't hold consistent groups on the first rifle I reloaded for. I had the action bedded and barrel free floated hoping that would help. I still couldn't hold consistent groups. On further inspection, I found the front action screw to be too long. It couldn't be torqued to specs without rubbing on the bolt lug, which was also causing over-pressure signs. I grinded down the front action screw and torqued the action to specs in 5 inch pound increments working front to back on the action screws. Now several loads shoot well under an inch consistently. -
September and October. I usually hunt them in early October so I can combine it with deer.

Thank you both for the replies. Sounds like it will a pretty simple process.

CWT group effort Wildcat Rifle build
Cell4soul replied to Zeke-BE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Nice rifle! Gonna be a great deer rifle. -
My 7 SAUM reamer should be at my buddy's house in a couple of weeks to start the barrel work. I am going to start working on prepping my brass. I have several hundred pieces of .300 SAUM I will be sizing down. Being pretty new to reloading, I am seeking advice on which sizing die to purchase? Any tips for sizing down the .300 SAUM brass? My reloading experience thus far is limited to my 6.5 Creedmoor, so all advice is appreciated.

How s the quality on these? Athlon seems to get pretty good reviews. At just over 12 oz, the Argos in 3-15x40 could be a decent inexpensive choice for my lightweight build.

Thanks for the reply. I am fine with the draw units and take my chances. Any recommendations on a decent draw unit with public access?

Just picked up my 6.5 SAUM
Cell4soul replied to 218buck's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Nice looking rifle, congrats. Did you go with Sendero or Sendero Light contour? What action? Which muzzle brake? Good luck on your deer hunt. -
Thanks for the info. I will likely be contacting you for pricing when the funds allow. I won't be in a hurry because I still have the thumbhole that I will bed and free float until I can get the Manners. REALLY like that Manners thumbhole.

Here is the stock I really want, just not in the budget quite yet after buying the barrel, reamer, go gauge and trigger. Hoping for another bonus in January.

i looked at their site and it's not listed. I'll email just to see but looking like no.I know McMillan does. Awesome thanks Thank you both. I was reading the same on their website. I spoke with McMillan awhile back and they will inlet any of their stocks for any rifle, so they won't be a problem. B & C has the Alaskan that is under 2 lbs and requires minor in letting. They had the Alaskan in stock a few weeks ago, but now appears they are sold out of the Alaskans for the Model 7.....bummer because they are on sale for over $100 off retail right now. Cliff, I still have those primers for you when you are ready. No hurry, they aren't going anywhere, I've set them aside for you.

Ruger Precision Rifle vs Savage BA 110 stealth
Cell4soul replied to goinhuntn's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I checked out the Savage in .338 Lapua the other day and was really surprised at how light it felt. I expected it to feel much heavier. Having shot .15" groups out of my factory Savage Model 10, I can vouch for the quality and accuracy of the Savage Rifles. That is the direction I would go. With that said, I have read a TON of good reviews on the Ruger. -
I love that stock! I may just go with my laminate thumbhole to start working up loads and put one of those on order. I am hoping to get the rifle back by the end of February. It all depends on when the reamer arrives.I just became a dealer for manners. Feel free to pm me. I will definitely do that if I go that direction. The Manners can be inletted for a Remington Model 7 with a hinged floor plate, correct?

Timney Calvin Elite Trigger arrived at my buddy's house yesterday. I am just waiting for the reamer at this point. Kevin is going to ship the thumb hole stock back to me. I will try to lighten it up and see what kind of weight reduction I can achieve. I will decide whether or not I am purchasing a new stock after I see what weight I can achieve with the laminate thumb hole. If I do purchase a new stock, I will probably go with the B&C Alaskan which is in stock at Stockey's and only requires minor inletting.

I tried Cox when I first moved here. Switched to Direct TV a little over a year ago. Both suck equally. Way too expensive for what you get. I will be "cutting the chord" as soon as my contract is up in 10 months.

Cooper STT mud terrains in 37x12.5 r 17 is what I am running. Less money than Nitto, BFG or Toyos. They wear good and do great off road.

Awesome write up. Persistence pays off. Congrats on your soon to be grandchild.
