I figured I would add some pics as there has been a couple requests. I also am giving away the refrigerator. My ex-wife's co-worker was supposed to pick it up today, but never called or showed up. The refrigerator does have an ice maker and filtered drinking water. Everything works.

No buck tag, but 2 antelope doe tags for me in 73. I'm all about hunting meat, so I am happy.

A bunch of it available online with a quick search.

When I was working loads for my 6.5 Creedmoor and was having issues shooting the 129 ABLR, I seem to recall him telling me he has trouble with the ABLR's. That said, I later found the issue to be with one of the action screws being too long and rubbing on the bolt lug. By the time I figured out the issue I had already switched to the Berger 140 VLDH, so I stuck with that. I never went back and tried the 129 ABLR after I fixed the action screw issue. I think I may try to work up a load for them later and see how they work.

I appreciate that Lance. I am gonna give the 145 LRX's a shot and I just ordered some Berger 175 elite hunters that I will try as well.

Here is Sig's 10 mm. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p220-hunter-full-size.html I am also considering a 10mm sidearm while hunting. I was thinking about this Sig, but as was already said, I like the capacity and weight of the Glock and will probably go that direction. From what I have researched it is a good idea to swap the barrel and recoil spring if you intend to shoot the heavy loads like Buffalo Bore or others.

The barrel is a 1:9 twist, so I should be ok with the 175 Berger Elite. Sportsman's had some Barnes 145 LRX in stock. I am gonna load some of these. They recommend loading .050 OTL. I measured CBTO with this bullet loaded to the lands at 2.268, which has a COAL of 2.892. If I load them to Mag length at 2.825 (reliable feeding with no damage to the tips) I will be at .067 OTL, which is pretty close to Barnes recommendation. This Barnes LRX is more of a tangent ogive, so I think seating depths won't be as sensitive as the ELDX was. I'll be giving up quite a bit in BC, but at my typical shooting range, it is not going to matter.
-
Researching the Berger 175 elite hunter, it looks like those are also a hybrid design secant/tangent ogive and less sensitive to seating depth. Think I'll give these and the 145 LRX a shot

I've been researching bullets that are not as sensitive to seating depth it looks like the Berger Classic Hunter may fit the bill as well as th Barnes 145 LRX. I've read some really good reviews on the LRX and how it performs on game. It has really good weight retention. The BC's are not all that great, but should do just fine at hunting distances. I think I am gonna give these and the Berger Classic Hunters a try.

I don't think it can be done on a 7. The rear of the action behind the ejection port is much shorter than a 700 and the bolt stop is completely different from a 700. With a Wyatt's box the additional length of the box goes toward the rear of the gun and the bolt stop has to be modified to let the bolt travel farther back so it can pick up rounds from the mag. Makes sense. If the Bergers won't shoot at Mag length, I will just single feed. One well placed shot should do the job anyways. Single feeding will only take a second or two longer than cycling a round through the magazine anyways.
-
I have thought about that. If I can get them shooting, that will be a good option.

I was thinking about the guide lid, thanks for the input. I think I'll order it when they come out with the scabbard.

I've been working on load development with the 150 and 162 ELD-X. I have several loads that are just under an inch, but I want better. I think my seating depth limitations are hurting my accuracy. I can't load any longer than 2.825 COL if I want to magazine feed. I don't have my numbers in front of me at the moment, but I know that is a good distance off the lands. I just picked up some 168 Berger VLDH and I am going to see if I can get them to shoot at magazine length. If I can't, I am just going to single feed this rifle so I can chase the lands.

Shot at Jim Jones today. I joined so I could use the private range. Night and day difference. Myself and one other guy had the range to ourselves. Able to call our own cease fires. No range Nazis breathing down our neck. Well worth the drive.

Good to know. Your experience sounds about like all the other's whose comments I've read. What size frame did you go with? I got the 24". I am a little taller than you, but not much. I hope I made the right choice.

Two New Rifle Upgrades Coming Soon To An Addict Near You...
Cell4soul replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Looking forward to this build. I REALLY want to build something in .280 ai. That would have been the caliber I built instead of my 7 mm SAUM, but I wanted to put my Model 7 action to good use. I will be building one in the future. -
If I can find the time to reload some ammo this week, I will head to Payson on Saturday and join so I can use the 200-300 yard range. It only takes me about 1 hour to drive there, small price to pay. I actually shot there once last year, but only at the 100 yard public range.
-
I went there once last year due to my same frustrations with Usery Mountain. I did like the 100 yard range I shot at as it seems they were more relaxed, a lot less people and no range Nazis. It seemed like they hold a lot of competition and fun shoots that would restrict range time on their longer ranges, is this not the case? I generally only have time to shoot on weekends.
-
Is this the Jim Jones Range? What kind of distances can you shoot? Never mind, you must be referring to Jim Jones. Just looked it up. Looks like they go to 300 for members. I may just have to do that.

I had Bilstein 5100's installed to level the truck. I am running Cooper ST MAXX in 255/75r16, which is a skinny 32" tire. This tire fit without leveling the truck. Gonna leave this truck mostly stock, definitely not gonna build it like my last Tacoma.
-
Tacomas are pretty bad a$$ this is my second one. I always regretted selling my last Tacoma and even tried to locate the guy I sold it to 5 years later to try to buy it back. Here is a pic of my first Tacoma, a 2005 double cab off Road 4x4. Crazy mods on this truck that the pics don't show including ARB lockers front and rear and a Ford 9" rear end....and much more!

Just bought this truck, sold my Dodge Power Wagon.
