Custom .264 Win. Mag. Questions
scoutm replied to CoJack's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
On a site where 80% of the guys/gals won't shoot past 500 yards and of the 20% that do maybe only half have put in the work to be consistent at that 500+ yard ranges what's the point of talking about 1000 yard performance? -
German Shorthaird Pointer Puppys
scoutm replied to azbownunter22's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I haven't ever hunted behind this pair but I've seen them worked while training and they are impressive. If the pups are half the dogs the sire is you will be getting a hunting machine. One of the most impressive hard working dogs I've ever seen. Good luck finding hunting homes for your pups Simon -
With back packs I'm almost as bad as my wife is with purses...I want to try them all and not shy about spending money on them. My first true hunting pack was the Badlands Hypervent - I used it for about 3 seasons. It was a good pack but the internal frame had issues with squeaking. It was also a top loader so it wasn't the most convenient for accessing gear. The last few seasons, I've been using the Badlands Diablo and like it a lot. It's light, comfortable and with the hyper vent structure your back stays comparatively dry. The dislikes are it's just a bit too small (1,900 ci - another 500 ci would be great), a few more compression straps for loading things on the outside and a better waist belt to support greater weight and it would be just about perfect. I recently purchased a gently used Kuiu Icon 3000. I haven't used it in the field yet but I think it's going to turn out to be a great pack. I've loaded it up with all my gear including water and it feels very comfortable and doesn't move around on your back at all felt very stable. I like that it has the extra space I wanted, has a ton of compression straps - maybe too many. But, it's heavier because of the frame and it doent have the same air flow for your back that the Diablo does. Another pack I looked at that falls between these two was the Sitka Bivy 30. It has the extra volume I wanted, a similar vented design that the Diablo has and a pretty good waist belt - better than the Diablo not as good as the Kuiu. I also think the design will pack gear a bit easier than the Kuiu but I believe the Kuiu will carry the weight better. Never used or even seen in person a Kifarus pack so can't really comment on them. I'm also in Tucson and be happy to meet you sometime if you would like to take a look at the Kuiu I have. Good luck with your search for the perfect pack. Larry

Digiscope adapter - anyone use this one?
scoutm replied to scoutm's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I bit the bullet and purchased one last week. It arrived yesterday. It was packaged very well and came with clean and clear instructions. Had a chance to play with it a little bit today and was very impressed. Simple to use, great pictures, even better video. The quality of the images at exteme distances was exceptional. Took some hd video of a tree at over 1300 yards and you could see individual leafs. can wait to put it to use in the fields. Thanks for the feedback it is in fact a great product. -

For the guys with the newer diesels...what's your take onthe Diesel Exhaust Fluid? How often to you have to fill it up? Where are you getting it and at what cost? -
Digiscope adapter - anyone use this one?
scoutm replied to scoutm's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Spoke with Reggie earlier today. He shared a lot of good advice. I'm also looking at the swarovski DCA adapter which works with DSLR, camcorders and point and shoot cameras. It's a lot more expensive but seems to offer a little more versatility - anyone using one of these? -

UPDATE: I've had the trailer inspected and was told that it's in great shape. All it needed was to have the carbon cleanded from the furnace and fridge. A quick $100 job all taken care of. I also received more feed back on it's value and we are offering the combo for $12,000 - $5500.00 for the trailer and $6500 for the truck. We will not sell the truck without the trailer unless the trailer sells first. We also have it listed on CL for a bit more. thanks. My stepfather passed away two years ago and my mom is ready to sell their 5th wheel and truck. The truck is a 1994 F250 XLT 4x4 79K miles. The trailer is a 1985 Royals International. Both are in excellent condition as they were always stored in a garage. Trailer has dual AC, single slide expanded gray/black tanks and is fully setup - dishes, pots, pans, linens and much more. Both truck and trailer have almost new tires with lot's of life, truck has new clutch power doors and locks and custom storage box in bed. Would consider splitting for the right price. Taking to RV shop this week for full inspection and will discuss value with them. I only have a rough idea of what it'sworth so for now just taking offers. Once they inspect and provide value info I will update with price. My mom is very emotional about this so hoping it will go quickly. If anyone knows of a consignment dealer in Tucson I would really appreciate their contact info. Thanks for looking.

Updated the orginal post now that it's been inspected. Thanks.

Go on their website and answer their survey. They are asking what unit to do next. Also huntinggpsmaps for handhelds are money. Great maps too. Spoke to them persnally about a month ago and I answered the survey. Not expecting anything before my hunt though.
-
Flatline - Too bad they don't have a unit 1 map yet.
-
I'll be in there right after you on the rifle hunt.

"The Attorney General’s Office has jurisdiction over Arizona's Consumer Fraud Act, white collar crime, organized crime, public corruption, environmental laws, civil rights laws, and crimes committed in more than one county. Additionally, this Office prosecutes cases normally handled by county attorneys when they have a conflict." From the State Attorney Generals Office web-site....I thinks this falls right in the jurisdiction wheel house...with enough presure they just might take this up. -
Powder Find...Primers, H1000, Reloader 17, 22 and 25 - Tucson
scoutm posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
If you're in need of Primers or powder there's a small shop in Tucson that has a pretty good supply at least by the current standards. Don't know all the primers they have as they are not out displayed. You have to ask. I picked up some Fed 215m and was nice enough to leave some for the next guy. Unfortunately, didn't have any of the powder I was searching for. Thunderstick Trading Co. off of Speedway and Jefferson. -

I was in 2nd ammendment not more than an hour ago and they had 1 H4350 and about 15 IMR4350. With a big hand written sign 1lb per person per day. don't know why they told you different...i was looking for 4831sc and Retumbo and they didn't have either.
-
They only have 1lb of H. They have about 15lbs of IMR but they are only allowing 1lb per person per day.
