scoutm replied to Snapshot's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
+1 - I won't be staying too long after the ride - going to a buddies 40th. Looking forward to it. -
"He also co-authored a successful behavior modification program to reduce the juvenile predation of young California condors by coyotes." What the heck is this all about? Whose behavior is being modified - condors or coyotes? Are they out putting shock collars on coyotes? I say modify coyote predation by removing as many as you can from the food chain? That will help all game species.

I have a camera that's in a remote area and difficult to check and was hoping to extend the time between trips. Has anyone ever used one of these. It's compatible with my camera so I know it will work but will it work well enough to spend the money on it. Thanks! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...=4887&Nty=1

SCOTUS- Border Fence
scoutm replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I sent an e-mail to the Seirra Club asking why their organization has not taken a stance on stopping illegal Boarder Crossing given the environmental impact they are having on very sensitive ecosystems. I even sent pictures of all the trash, vandalism and fires created by the illegal activities. There response was unbelievablely stupid! It basically read: The issue has been discussed and the decision of the Sierra Club was to NOT take an official position on this issues. Thank you for your inquiry. -
Well checked the camera today and it looks like they are finaly starting to grow down south. I'm guessing they will both be mid-90 by the time they're done. But who knows they may only be spikes...

I have a howa 1500 in 223 with a bull barrel. Very accurate rifle. I had some issues with spent cases sticking in the bore. I had the bore polished which fixed it right up. It's a nice gun.

I've held the same buck and then saw it again after it was mounted. I've also held a 125ish buck too.

My favorite is the first rifle I bought to hunt open country with. It's a Winchester Model 70 Feather Weight in 270 Win. I've taken 1 mule deer, 4 whitetail and one antelope. I've had it for 16 years now so I gave it a make over last month. I put a new Bell & Carlson stock on it and upgraded the scope to a Zeiss conquest 4.5-14x50 with target turrets on it. I hope the make over doesn't ruin the gun.

Nicely Done!

Another for Badlands. I have a Hypervent and it can't be beat for warm weather hunting. I messed up the zipper trying to force a scope into the scope pocket - sent it in for repairs had a new one in hand in less than 5 days. I also had them build an attachment that would clip to existing clips to carry my tripod - they custom made it without hesitation for $20.00 and that included the shipping.

I've recently shot a number of bows - Drenalin, DXT, Bow Tech General, PSE x-force dreamseason and TS. I purchased the x-force ts just last week. They are all excellent bows. All free of noise, recoil and hand shock. They were all very forgiving. The only noticable difference was the draw cycles. No surprises the Mathews were the smoothest, The General with the smooth mod was right there too but much slower. The x-force was the least smooth but that's not to say it wasn't smooth - just not as smooth as the others. -- This I believe is the most over rated area because this only plays a factor when you are trying to draw a bow that's too heavy for you. Setup with a draw weight you can handle and draw cycle isn't an issues. Also if you don't mind the drive down to Tucson PSE's factory proshop has a number of current year models that we shot at a trade show they are selling from $100-$150 below retail - They come with the full warranty. If you buy a full setup bow they will also discount the add ons. My bow fully setup was $400 cheaper than the local Mathews dealer would sell a setup DXT / Drenalin - say what you will but the DXT was not worth the extra $400. Good Luck with your search.

scoutm replied to Snapshot's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Get-togethers!
We have been trying to set up a date for a CWT member get together at my place in Sahuarita 5 miles west of Corona de Tucson / houghton road, it looks as if it will be July 12th. Anybody with a quad can show up around 12:00 p.m and I will take you into the north end of the Santa Ritas on a sight seeing tour, and then back to my place where the party will start at 4:00 p.m., my wife will be here along with couple others if anyone shows up early before we get back on the quads. There will be BBQ with all the fixins, we will have music, horseshoes, after dark if everyone wishes I can start a campfire. The party will last until whenever. All you have to bring is whatever you want to BBQ and drink. All side dishes, snacks etc will be provided. If anyone wishes to share a special dish that would be great. When the time comes I will P.M everyone with my address and Phone number, directions can be looked up on mapquest It should be a good time for everyone. Sounds great. Thanks for catching me up. -

Prescribed Burn in 33 - Agua Caliente on fire...
scoutm posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I'm sitting in my office and I see Agua Caliente Peak on fire. Quite surprised by it I search in the paper for some news of it and found nothing. Then I googled it and found this.... http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coronado/forest/fi...nte/index.shtml Hope this one dosn't get away from them. Could be bad for all the 33 hunts this year.
