Yesterday was our first year anniversary and my wonderful wife got the best anniversary gift I could have ever expected. Not only does she support and encourage my hunting addiction she also buys me the tools needed - here is the gift she gave me - Christensen Arms Hunter in 300 WSM!!!

Doug - I don't remember exactly what ammo it is. It's made by Federal and it's 180 grain soft point. All I really know it was the least expensive of all the ammo I had to choose from. Larry

Lee - aren't you mistaken? Didn't you shoot that buck in 34B? I'm almost positive it DIDN'T come out of 33. Still an awsome buck! Larry

Dude, what the he!! are you talking about the pictures of the rifle was taken on a shelf/nook at the end of my hallway. I've tried to convince the wife that the rifle would make the perfect piece of art to be displayed there but she's not buying it.

I’ve been slowly breaking in the new gun and man is she a shooter. This was how I ended my day. This group is the best so far. I’ve had several close to this but this is the first where all shots are touching. I can’t wait to put some premium ammo through her. This was done with the cheapest stuff I could find. I've ordered the scope I'm going to have on her - it should be here soon. At that point I will get her dialed in at 2" high at 100 yards. I've never been so excited about any of my rifles before.

Had these e-mailed to me today. Pretty cool!!

I have the Bushnell 1500 with ARC and it works great. I'm able to get consistant reads of all objects out to 1100 yards and I've gotten what I believe to be accurate reads out to 1400 yards off of reflective objects. In rifle mode the ARC will tell you your hold over in inches. This feature does require some setup. The book has a trajectory table - you find the entry that most closely matches your choice of ammo - you load that setting to the range finder and based on that it will calculate your hold over. It actually works pretty well. The only draw back I've found with it is it's a little larger than I would like. It's just a touch big to fit in my leg pocket on my camo. It will fit but it's a bit of a struggle to get it in and out.

I've glassed coues with cows present and in areas I've seen lots of coues I haven't been able to find a single one after the ranchers have moved their cattle into the pasture. So, I'm not sure it really matters.

Here's the link to one of the stories about Zwing Hunt. I asked the local rancher what he know about the marker and he told me that the grave was once marked only by a carving on a tree at the head of the grave. At some point a person cutting firewood cut the tree down. The Cochise County Historical Society feared the location of the grave would be lost without the a marker so they placed what is in my picture. There are many variations of the story but this is the one I found most detailed. http://www.geocities.com/dustinmdudley/ari...ton_canyon.html The grave marker is located in Hunt Canyon in the Chiricahua Mountains.

I discovered this several years ago and only recently did a search on the name and found some interesting old west Arizona history - treasure, double crosses, jail escapes and a little mystery. The name on the headstone is Zwing Hunt. So, where's it at??

I don’t know anyone that has one but the round that intrigues me as a primary elk gun is the 325 WSM. It compares very favorably to both the 300 Win Mag and 338 Win Mag. I would imagine the cost of factory loads wouldn’t allow you to shoot it too often but if you hand load I believe it would make an awesome Elk Gun. One problem is there aren’t too many manufacturers that chamber the 325 WSM – Kimber, Browning and Winchester for the most part. All the others calibers mentioned are great as well. I have a 300 WSM. I’m excited to see how it shoots the Federal 130 grain Barnes TSX bullets – 3500 ft/sec at muzzle. If it shoots those well, it’s going to make a great WT load.

No deer, no sheep. Looks like I'll be trying to get a leftover tag again. I can't feel too bad about it as I was able to get a nice deer last year with a leftover tag. Congrats to all that have drawn.

She gave me what I like most and I gave her what she likes most...things that sparkle.

scoutm replied to RoughCut's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
What's the guys name and how much would it cost to make sure that when they recover the draw data miraculously every CW member will be drawn for whatever applied for. Sorry, he's only able to do two fixes and they're both mine...1 December WT and 1 Desert Big Horn sheep coming my way. -

I know this guy who works for an IT Consulting company that specializes in data recovery (the guy is a total computer genious) his firm was contacted by the Arizona Game and Fish Depart to attempt to recover a database that was corrupted while trying to load it to their website. I'm not saying it's the draw results but sounds alot like it...we may be waiting along time. -

Casey - In the coming year I hope your arrows fly straight, your bullets hit their mark and at the end of each hunt may all your trophy's have skull plates that are intact. Happy Belated Birthday. Larry -
I really enjoyed the quad ride thanks for sharing your back yard with us. I wish I could have stayed longer.
