  1. Sundevil and I went out for a quick scouting trips this weekend primarily to learn the roads in a new area we are considering hunting this year. We drove roads most of the day to get a better understanding of what areas were accessible. Before we headed home we took a few hours to glass an area we thought might be productive. Having not slept well the night before and after getting up earily for a morning glass I could barely keep my eyes open. After having glassed the same small cut three times with my eyes closed I thought I might as well try to catch a brief nap before the prime glassing time. After about 20 minutes of sleep Chris came and told me I wasn't going to find many deer that way and then almost immediately after sitting down said "There's a deer...it's a buck...it's a good buck. Sure enough there was a good deer in same cut I was glassing with my eyes closed. Here are some pictures - Here's a little video of too - http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l302/sco...TrapLine011.flv Later I glassed up two yotes not far from where Chriss found the buck - he had his rifle with him so he took a whack at one of them. From the looks of it he connected but not well enough to drop him immediately. All in all it was a very good trip - saw close to 50 deer, 6 bucks, 2 yotes and 2 rattlers. More importantly we found a number of areas we need to go back and look at.

    GSP Pups

Man, there has been a flood of GSP litters this summer - Isn't this the third litter posted or is it the fourth? I know of one other that wasn't posted on this site. Can't ever remember there being this many litters is such a short span of time. GSP must be great dogs. I'll have to confirm that with my GSP when I get home.

My Grandpa was always a Chevy guy - I can remember a lot of his trucks he would turn them over about every five years and not one of them was a ford.

    Which Spotter

I have the Swarovski 80mm and really like it. If I had to do it over again though I would most likely opt for the 65mm and save the weight and a little money. It's very seldom that the extra light gathering of the 80mm proves to be a significant benefit. I'd also take a look at the Nikon scopes. They are very good too.

    Stolen Gun Safe

I'm right around the corner from you. I guess my weekend project has just been defined for me...Anyone have an impact drill I can borrow? I'll need to review my policy rider to make sure the value of my guns is covered. Really hope you are able to recover your guns and the SOBs that took them end up behind bars.

    Stolen Gun Safe

Make sure your policy covers the value of the guns and optics on them. I had to purchase a firearm rider as the basic coverage of the policy only covered about 2/3rds of the value of the guns and optics I have in my safe.

    Stolen Gun Safe

Sorry to hear about the theft. What part of NE Tucson do you live in. I live in NE Tucson too Tanque Verde / Soldier Trl area - have to admit I am a little concerned as I've heard from neighbors that theives have been working that area. I'm going to have to bolt my safe to the floor now. Sound like they were prepared. Again, sorry you have to deal with such crap. Larry

Thanks again and sorry for the delayed response - not much internet access in rural Oregon yet - they did have dail up but I couldn't stand that one bit.

    which scope and why?

I don't know if demo's are considered new for this purpose or not. They do carry the full warranty so just maybe. It's worth checking with Doug @ Cameraland to see what he thinks.

    which scope and why?

If the rebate applies to demo scopes you could save some additional money. I purchased demos and could not tell the difference. I would check with Doug (@cameraland) to see if the rebate would apply.

    which scope and why?

    which scope and why?

+1 on the Zeiss Conquest. I have both the 4.5-14 x 44 and 50. I don't think the advantages of the 50 out weigh the extra cost and weight so I would recommend the 44mm. The 44mm doesn't come with turrets but you can easily fix that by sending it to Zeiss - they put them on for me for only around $50.00 - they work great!! Purchased them both from Doug @ cameraland and the savings from being a member covered the cost of the turrets. Great Scopes!!
  18. I can't believe they could be this bad.

    Rifle Scopes?

Try one of these. I purchased a demo from Camera land (site sponsor) and then sent it to Zeiss to have target nobs put on - they only cost me $50.00 Work out your drop chart and you are good to go. http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/zeiss.pl?page=521430
