Went super easy here in Seattle. I put the declaration in case at ticketting, agent never checked. Walked down to TSA station. Told them declaration was already inside. Told me lock it up, swabbed exterior, done in 2min!!! Never even looked inside. Regular passenger screening was a joke. 45min+ because i chose wrong line. DOH. Scopes are in my carry on, went thru no questions. We are out of here!!

Edited that post to just have that one phrase, sorry about that.

You never did, I was making a tangent point. I could tell that you are a loyal fan, just got me thinking how rare that has become when you mention the grumblings on social media...

I have no dog in this fight, but this brings up a great point. NO LOYALTY anymore. seems like if a team/coach does not produce a win every time suddenly their job is on the line. And this mass media monster getting people fired for having a bad season (Harbaugh & 49'ers anyone?) Ughh, just gets old. I am a Hawks fan, we are playing terrible this year, not happy one bit but Not calling for Carrol's job, nor will I. Being a fan means riding thru good and the bad years. Being a Hawks fan I am decidedly NOT a 49'ers fan, but I was disgusted with the sports media bashing Harbaugh all year long on a witch hunt, even during non 49'ers games they would blather on about it. It honestly is completely disrespectful. K off soap box.. Back to instate College bickering! (We do the same up here with UW/WSU!)

Good luck and Drive safe! You have my number just no idea if we will have Cell service!

I can't answer your question, but I am bringing my 300blk down as well as my grendel just for something different to use on yotes up close.

They do that in front of you were you can see? they did years ago when I flew out of there, was just a roped off area where I could watch from afar, and they opened the suitcase, swabbed and close just like you said. But what about when the case being checked is the gun case itself (Pelican 1750), they open the checked case at all and the firearms are open.. I don't really have a problem with providing them keys to do that, as long as it is all done where I can watch and oversee it so that I can verify and account for my firearms as required legally.

So a quick follow up here, given the stories I have heard... How is PHX with regard to the extra TSA screening? When I flew out of there 5yrs ago the TSA screening location for these sort of bags was right there at the ticketing counters and open so that the passenger could oversee the opening of the bag/case and extra screening. I am hoping that is still the case? I have seen a number of stories about cases being taken back behind closed doors into back rooms and then TSA agents demanding keys/combos to open the locks without the passenger present when baggage opened which is against Federal law when traveling with firearms as I linked above..

Suppressors for hunting rifles
lamrith replied to cactusjack's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That is not a question anyone but the Suppressor owner and ATF can honestly answer. Whether you may posses the suppressor depends entirely on how the owner has the tax stamp licensed for the item. Some trusts will allow the ability to name beneficiaries (maybe wrong term?) that have full rights to possess and use the NFA items registered thru the trust, others do not. One registered directly to the person and not thru a trust I do not believe can be loaned, borrowed, used, etc by others. But again I am not a NFA attorney so you need to contact ATF to get a realist answer. -
That is part of what makes SW better to some of us. But you have to know the game going in or yeah, you get hosed. These days you have to buy the Early bird upgrade ($12.50) as well to be in the front half of the aircraft.
-
Yeah I have heard fo that before as well. Technically not supposed to do that, but again TSA sort of has their own agenda many times it seems. You guys really made my day, I was seriously worried about the size restriction ($75 each way adds up fast). Maybe they have changed to 62" length not total and have just not updated the website. I know some other airlines did that in the last few years. I will just roll with it!

I snuck on at work and tracked the regs down... http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=5419e6f210dbc16047f04611e9b8bbf7&mc=true&node=se49.9.1540_1111&rgn=div8 http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=5419e6f210dbc16047f04611e9b8bbf7&mc=true&node=se49.9.1544_1203&rgn=div8 As mentioned this does not mean the TSA will not break Federal law, but being polite, producing documentation and asking for a supervisor and informing them of Federal law with documentation may help.

Thanks guys, that takes a major stress level off!! Per SW website they hit for anything over 62" total so I was wondering and trying to come up with backup plans. It will be much nicer to not have to worry about it! I will back folks up though NO TSA LOCKS. By federal law only the gun owner is to know combination or have keys to access the firearm. Some may not realize but it is not only TSA that has the keys for those special locks, lots and lots of people have them. That does not mean TSA might not call you and demand the combo or keys but LEGALLY they are not to have them outside of your supervision. however they know they have you over a barrel in terms of making your flight etc so can be a tough battle. There are Ferderal laws that specifically address the locks and access to the firearm during travel. I will pull it up again when I get home and link here for everyone that might be interested. I have been told it "can" be helpefull to have a bunch of documentation printed and with you when traveling. So if someone (airoline check-in agent) starts pushing or saying things that are wrong you "document download" on them. Often that will let them know that you know the facts and they back off. TSA though.. that is another anmal... Thanks again for all the input. it is greatly appreciated!

I have not narrowed the cause. It was especially troubling as that was factory ammo that prior to that had never exceeded and ES of 45. Got a test ladder done now with reloads I plan to run in the next few days as well as run more factory rounds...

Yeah I am starting to feel twitchy myself. and showed in groups the last time out.. Heading back out this week to dial in and make sure zero is spot on. big struggle is the speed variation I saw last time out, big ES number and avg was 150fps higher than previous 120rnds I had shot of the same ammo.. DOH, always happens right before hunt!

I would say just keep plugging away keeping the group small. Maybe use targets with smaller bullseyes, "aim small, miss small" 1" @ 200yrds is 1/2 MOA and more than good enough and you can take that measurement out to longer distances. 400yrds=2", 600=3"... etc.. If you and the gun are working that well together then the actual action of shooting will really be the least of your concerns. In regards to the distance itself I see two primary issues (and they are the same ones I have). Accurately figuring your drop. This can be a challenge as you are not getting the opportunity to actually test it out. this is an issue for me as well as my range only goes to 200. Getting accurate chrono and bullet data on what you are shooting and use of ballistics program etc will be very important. I am still trying to figure out a way to get at least 3-400yrd testing done for some real world testing to backup ballistics calculations.. Being realistic with terminal performance and making sure any shot you take you keep within the envelope that the bullet is designed for. One thing to put the bullet where you want it, another for it to have the speed or energy to function and open properly. Some bullets are designed to open from 2000fps+, others 1500fps+. Making sure you are in that sweet spot is important. Again a ballistics program, will be very handy to calculate speed @ distance. Hornady has an online ballitics program, then there are phone apps. I am going with Strelok and already have my base gun and ammo data loaded. I hope to get out confirm my 100yrd zero this week and then shoot 200yrds and see how the drop compares. not a great test as any varience will be very small, but it should give me an idea and way to test dialing up my drop etc and getting back to zero.

We are all speculating and unfortunately assuming guilty until proven innocent which is sad, but sure does seem fishy.. Being as close to the road as they were you may not hear a gunshot even if a gun was used. Easy chipshot for 300blk with a can on it.. Hoping if it was taken illegally that they are hammered for it.

he's been eating that devils lettuce. I was wondering the same thing, running around like a spaz!! VIDEO: Have you tried uploading to Vimeo, Youtube, photobucket? As long as no music added for copyright, any of those will take it and then you can link in forum...

Carrying Extra Rounds in the Field
lamrith replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
My rifle pictured is a single shot. Plus, there is always an opportunity for a lion or coyotes to lose their lives while I am out hunting other big game. and Don't foget Willy, aka Songdogs, aka yotes.. more than most of us carry ammo to shoot, but was just trying to reinforce why some carry more than just a couple rounds and a few of their nicknames.. -
Suppressors for hunting rifles

I am debating on if bring my Can on my hunt. Shooting supersonic I never considered it to matter, but more I think about it, it couldn't hurt. I just do not htink I will have time to do any shooting past 200yrds with the can on to know where it it is hitting. -

Man bunch of Airmen around here! Thanks to all for serving, and bringing up many of my favorite all time Aircraft. F15 and A10 are my 1&2 and in no particular order. I hunt that unit the Oct hunt. I am not sure when your hunt starts, but I will try to relay what I can to you after my hunt. What we saw or did not...
