I was just telling my wife this morning we needed a nice bear rug....

The dog thing really worked for us last year. At least gave them a heads up we were there before they got too close. But its unnerving when you're a mile from camp and you hear your dog off in the distance going beserk.

The guy was drugged up I guess. He had a pistol, cousin had a rifle, you can do the math. But this is the only time I have heard of wets being violent against hunters. Last season I had a friend who had 3 groups come through his camp in one night. He figured the 3rd one was enough.

I had a cousin get into shoot out with one about 10 years ago. I dont recall the unit. Ended badly for the wet.

Yeah,i was expecting a late 3b muzzy bull hunt. I got a oct cow hunt for 2a2b. I thought it was my 3rd or 4th choice.

I think the reason they dont do this is to not have a million people check at the same time and crash the system. Remember the good ol days when we had to call the hot line but couldnt ever get thru bc it was tied up.

I just wanted something with a little more umff... just from other threads i have read. I will most likely stay with my 385s, but just curious if anyone knew of, or used anything heavier.

Took the fam out to the lake today. Some campers who had been there all weekend said the fishing is very slow right now.

So I took a friend and his son on thier first javelina hunt over the weekend. I also thought it would be a good time put my dog into some hunting situation. Along the way we decided to set up a stand to call in either a coyote or pig. My friend and his son set up on one side of a tree while I sat on the other. I positioned my dog about 5 yards off the tree. Within the first 90 seconds of hand calling aggressively, I saw a coyote coming hard about 150 yards out. I told my buddy and was waiting for his 12 year old to shoot... this dog was still coming fast. I really didn't want my dog's first stand to be a coyote fight, so after the coyote got to about 35 yards out I put the hammer down. This was my first time calling with a dog and I was very surprised how effective it was.

She is only 18 months. She still has a little bit more growing to do. But yeah, she was almost double the size of the yote.
