I still use mine regularly. It's my favorite rifle. Luckily I found factory blemished bullets for dirt cheap, and I haven't had to buy components yet in this inflated market we're in. I think the largest competitor to the .338LM is actually the creation of the 28 Nosler. Its trajectory is very similar. And 7mm bullets are much cheaper.

I've done both the 20 and 29. The 20 is a shooter, but the 29 is much nicer to carry. Both shot .40 all day long.

I have a Savage Light Weight Hunter in 7-08, loaded weight right around 6lbs. I love it so much I bought one in .270, which I planned to rebore into a .280 AI with a proof barrel. Basically turn it into the new Savage Ultralite. I bought it a month before Savage came out with the UltraLite. The problem with the 280 AI Ultralite is that it only comes in a 22" barrel for that caliber. But if your interested in .270 shoot me a pm.

I know of many. I only run a few cameras during the year just for fun. I've never killed an animal I've had on camera. I've had more success from scouting with my "2 eyes". What does bother me, is people dictating to others what they should do, just because they do it different. I've kept quiet in this debate and respected both sides and opinions. But having my rights and opportunities restricted because someone else doesn't like it is not ok. In general game cams have made a huge impact on the hunting world due to Social Media. Thats about it. We all love seeing big animals and pictures from guys like Jason Miller. But by rule if he chooses to hunt that unit, he would have to pull those cameras. Which is unfortunate.

I would definitely get a bdc type reticle. He won't want to be twisting the knobs too much on a cheaper scope.
