Nebraska sounds good but I've been reading about it and they don't seem to have a whole lot of public land. I'm leaning heavily towards the northern part of Kentucky since I have some family in Cincinnati plus it's cheaper to travel there from Az and the license/tags cost less

Thanks for all the advises. They all sound like really good ideas. I also know people in Ohio. They don't hunt but hopefully will get some connections. One of my friends has family in Georgia. That sounds good also. Will a hunt in Nebraska require a long shot? I was planning on taking my 45-70 or a Henry in 45 colt.

I'm very interested in taking a vacation east of here to hopefully hunt some deer. What would be a good list of states that are cheap and have a good amount of deer. I don't want a trophy, strictly meat. Even if I take all does I will be very happy. Which brings me to another question, what states allow more than one doe.

That's awesome, congrats! What load did he use in the 45-70? Grains and powder? Were they hard cast?

Any mulie with antlers within 150 yrds will be fair game for me. Even if it has crossed eyes and buck teeth. Well it will be a buck with teeth but you know what I mean.

Hello, I drew a tag for mule deer on 36A and I'm trying to decide which rifle to start with. I really want to get something with my 45-70 which I reload for, but I'm worried that the shots in that unit will be too far. Is this mostly the case for hunters in 36A? My other option is a 30-06 with a 3-9 scope. Thanks for your help.

Flatlander I'm too clumsy, I have a hard time not putting dings on my rifles when I just carry one, so two is a no go for me

Yeah you're right. Common sense is lacking now days. That's how we ended up with liberals running the country twice in a row.
-
Big or Bust seriously? I guess I should have specified. What I meant was if for the first couple of days I couldn't get close then I would switch
-
I don't know if there is a thread like this one on the mule deer forum like there is in the coues but if you end up with a mule deer tag, what gun are you planning on using this season to get that muley? I'm using my Marlin 45-70. If I find that it's too hard to get close to the deer then I'll switch to my 30-06.

I just want to resurrect this thread by asking if anyone has hunted the hangemhighwhitails for hogs yet. I'm planning to bring up the idea to some of the guys at work tomorrow. If you have, how was your experience, also how far from Arizona is it?
-
Are there other companies just as good as beartooth but with more efficient delivery methods?
-
Thanks Sourdough for the recommendation on the speer bullet. I plan on start reloading this spring, once I get everything ready. From what I've been reading the Marlin likes big diameter bullets. I think the unicor only goes up to 429 and I may need between 431 and 432. Maybe something from beartooth might be what I start with. Would a 250 grain hard cast do the job?

What's up CW, I just have a quick question. I got a Marlin in 44 mag and I want it strictly for elk and pigs. Has anyone hunted elk in AZ with one of these? If so what round did you use? Did it take more than one shot to bring it down? Reading on the Internet, people give mixed reports. If the consensus is that it's not enough then I might think about getting a 45-70. Sorry, I gues is not just one quick question, it's more like 3. Thanks

Thanks PR, $43.00 is really not that bad. Hopefully my rifle will like them. I also hope the POI is not to far off. I got it bore sighted earlier this week. It shouldn't take to many rounds to dail it in. We'll see. Ron thanks for the info on the 30-06. I'm going to the range sometime this week. Maybe I'll have some HSM's by then.
